I guess it's neat for the kids, and if you like the idea of going to the bathroom while you can watch everyone trying to see through the windows, I suppose it's cool. I'm not impressed.

See for yourself. two of them, and they are very unique. We wonder how many people actually use them.

If you've never been to a glass bathroom, you should visit the square in Sulphur Springs and check them out. They are located on the beautiful downtown square near the court house.

Went during the Christmas parade and there was a short line to get to use the restroom but suprisingly it was pretty clean and you could watch people walking by...kind of neat in a wierd way, lol.

Who'da thunk there'd be these funky one-way mirror public potties on the square in this awesome little town?!?! Dropping trow in what feels like the middle of a public sidewalk in front of an historic county courthouse seems really, REALLY weird. But they were clean and well maintained and a great way to get the kids to use the bathroom on the road! Great idea, Sulphur Springs! I never enjoyed making pee-pees so much!!!!

Yes, you heard it right, glass bathrooms on the square. Millions have been spent to upgrade the square in Sulphur Springs. It is simply beautiful with trees, fountain, Veteran's Memorial and the Courthouse that stands out as one of a kind. It is still in use so not just a pretty building. The square has brick streets that are smooth as glass. The bathrooms, two in number have one way glass and you can see out like you are standing beside them but they cannot see in. It is quite amazing and everyone wants to go inside and take a look out. Many have tried to peek in but to no avail. It is something to see for sure. There are giant checkers and Chess boards with huge pieces and you can play at your leisure. There is also a fountain that kids and a few adults like to get in the middle of in the hot summer. Truly a fun place to go and in the Summer, a lot of activities most weekends.

I heard that the city of Sulphur Springs had installed two unique public rest rooms in their downtown square, and on a recent trip to Dallas I decided to exit I-30 and check it out. Downtown Sulphur Springs is about two miles north of I-30. The Romanesque style Hopkins County Court House is on one side of the square. The tower of the Courthouse stands above the square. When you approach downtown Sulphur Springs, and you see the tower to the courthouse ahead of you, you know the square is right next to it. When you drive around the square you notice there are two large glass boxes set in different parts of the park which makes up the square. When you approach the glass box, which looks like it is covered in mirrors, you realize there is a door on one side. When you open the door, you enter a public rest room. You can see everything outside, but people outside can't see in. The city of Sulphur Springs apparently wanted these public restrooms to be different, and they are. According to news reports, they are the only public restrooms in the United States that were built with this unique see through feature. It makes one wonder if more will be built in other parts of the USA, but right now Sulphur Springs can claim it is the only city in the country that has them. In reading about how they were constructed I learned it has to do with the outside light being brighter than the light inside. If the light inside the restroom is brighter, then people outside can see in. Great care was made in constructing the restroom to make sure the light inside was just right, even on cloudy days. I don't know if the inability to see through the glass from the outside still holds true at night though. Either the restrooms at closed at night, or bright lights were installed outside the restrooms to keep the light brighter outside than inside.

I first read about this local attraction on www.tripadvisor.com. I knew that since I was visiting Sulphur Springs recently that I wanted to see what it was all about. The locals mentioned that it was built with a Federal grant. I must say that I have never seen a public bathroom quite like this one either in the States or in Europe. It is glass but no one can see in. In fact, I understand that they adjust the outside lighting in the Courthouse Square to ensure privacy for the users at different times during the day and night. And best of all, it is free and so few things these days are. Kudos to the city fathers of Sulphur Springs, Texas for providing such a unique public facility for locals and visitors!

Was hesitant but had to try it. Clean, spacious and air-conditioned! Would never us a "port a potty" but this is totally not one of those. The trashcan could be larger (over flowing with paper towels). Kind of wanted to stay in a while since cool. Weird for fun to see little kids looking at themselves in the mirrored glass and didn't realize anyone was in there! :0

Set within a beautiful downtown square, are 2 mirrored public restrooms. Literally, you can view the fountain and surroundings as you use the facility. You can see them; they can't see you - very disconcerting for people who are modest. Stop if you're driving by. The town hall is beautiful as well.

You must experience this! Using a bathroom with walls that are see-thru from the inside, but just mirrors from the outside.

We drove 2 hours just to see these bathrooms, and it was well worth the drive! We took our daughter and grandson, and everyone had a great time. We took pictures, giggled, and yes, used the restroom. What a great idea, and what a great way to get people to visit the Sulphur Springs downtown area. It was a beautiful downtown, with lots of things to see and do. We are so glad we visited.

Came to this town to take a picture of the unique courthouse and found the glass outhouses. What a neat idea. The large chess game and checkers games are fun too. The entire town square is a unique, quiet area to just sit and enjoy.

The kids (who are we kidding, US too!) loved this. We had fun taking pictures inside and outside the bathrooms.
