really neat museum. 30min to 45min to cover most of it. friendly and knowledgeable staff. definitely a place to check out while you're visiting San Angelo!
A lot of old time 1800s atmosphere. Food is very good. Prices are above average but well worth it. A great place for having a celebration dinner. Very romantic setting.
service is never that good and food is over priced, I know the décor is supposed to look old and dated but lighten things up a bit. I always try to avoid going here when someone brings it up.
Little museum with guided tours. Learned much about Miss Hattie they had several original pieces from the bordello. Tour was fun
This was a fun place to visit and get a little history of San Angelo! They give you interesting slips information about each room and what all went on in each. I enjoyed the tour very much.
Was very disappointed when I was told many of the items were not original. What's the point if you are a historian and everything is not original.
Buy your tickets at the jewelry store downstairs and must be able to climb the stairs. The place is left exactly like it was when the "girls" were ordered to leave by the Texas Rangers.
Great place to go where the setting is peaceful. Food is good but some things can be pricey. A first time visit people would truly enjoy.
The food and drinks are very good and the service is generally excellent. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is laidback.
The tour was very interesting he explained everything very well. Nice owners and new alot about the history of the place. Recommended if your ever in San Angelo.
This can be a quick visit, as I spent less than 30 minutes touring here. Despite not all the furniture being original to the location, there is still the atmosphere of a turn-of-the-century bordello, with bright-red textiles (curtains, clothing, settees) alluding to the red-light nature of the business once present here. You can imagine the ranchers, cowboys and travelers stopping off here on their trips across Texas. This was just one of a number of bordellos and saloons on the street. It's amusing to learn that there were raids mainly in the run-up to local elections, but few in-between, as the Police were themselves also customers of the girls! Despite being an illegal activity, this business was tolerated for over 50 years. It's a pity more information isn't available on the girls who worked here (no photos, for example), mostly for privacy reasons, as it only closed in 1952. They weren't known by their real names but were given nicknames like "Miss Blue". What's surprising is the young age they were, around 18 years old on average.
A friend and I were on a trip to San Angelo and the temperature was very hot that day so we looked for something inside to do and we found the tour of Miss Hattie's. You purchase your ticket at the adjective jewelry store. Our tour guide was so friendly and full of information about the history of the bordello and Miss Hattie herself. To get to the bordello you do have to climb stairs as it is in an upstairs area. All the rooms are in excellent condition and have many of the original furnishings left from 1950 when it closed and locked up. Each room is named for a particular lady and we were entertained with stories of each one of the ladies and their adventures. This is a fun tour and we both enjoyed the funny sorted tales of San Angelo. It is worth the small charge.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Miss Hattie's. The rooms are all different - with the exception that most have beds in them!!! I am crazy about the doll house too! I recommend a visit.
Great experience, Go for the Aged Mesquite grilled Rib eye! Also Shrimp Fettuccine. Wonderful sides and salads
