The park looks fairly nice. We stayed in an RV site across the street from the bathrooms that was very unlevel. It was convenient to the playground though. We only stayed just to sleep so I can't give you many details.it was a little pricey and they have a park fee and it is five dollars per person additionally.

This park has lots to offer - trails, lake for swimming, boating, kayaking, roads for biking, walking, sightseeing, and bird watching. The cabins are comfortable and accommodating, but reserve ahead of time to be sure of availability. TREES, TREES, TREES. Beautiful shade in the summer. Campsites are not too close together and almost all are positioned for fabulous views of Lake Raven. Be aware there may be crocodiles (see warning signs). Grounds are usually clean and well-kept. Camp hosts on site very helpful.

I have been coming here 1-4 times a month for a year for long (10+ miles) hikes. This is a grat park to hike in. Wide variety of trails in length & difficulty. Great for mountain biking too. This spring I plan to launch my kayak! Good web site and you need to check the events link to be sure you can do what you want--they host marathons, bike races & hunting. Easy to get too and only minutes from Huntsville if you need something. So glad I found this place-my escape from the world.

This is a large State Park that is easy to get to (right off I-45), but once you are in the park you feel like you are 100 miles from a major city. Water activities at the lake, or the 7 mile hike around the lake are probably the best ways to enjoy the area. Like with all outdoor activities in the area, Spring or Fall are preferred over Summer.

We stayed a couple of nights in summer. The site is reasonably clean - there's litter around the waters edge but everywhere else is generally clean. It was also pretty quiet when we went, had a wide range of spots open to choose from. The camp hosts and staff were very helpful when needed. We saw the alligators as well as a range of birds and inverts.Definitely worth a visit.

Best Best Best place. We loved the spacious camping sites, the hiking, and the view!!! Great entertainment for kids geocaching and view of alligators. I recommend it 100%. I visited with kids (12-10 yrs old). Riding bikes, hiking, walking, playing ball at the big park! It was awesome.

We visited here in December and had a nice weekend. The park is nice, very scenic, clean and well maintained. Bike trails are maintained well just have a good bike and plenty of energy! We camped in a travel trailer so we did not use the showers. They appeared to be clean but did have a distinct odor of mold. At least the ones near the rv loop. The bathrooms, however were kept very clean which was impressive given that we seemed to be there on a boyscout weekend. The only complaint I have is that the rv sites are very unlevel and hard to position the trailer so that you have adequate sitting space between the door and 3-4 ft retaining wall. Picnic tables is also down the stairs making it not so convenient.

My family likes to go fishing so we decided to try out Lake Raven. While the park is very nice and relatively quiet, we caught only one keep-able fish both times we've been there.

The park itself is nice, well maintained and packed with plenty of trails and activities to keep you going. Park rangers are helpful, outgoing and always smiling, eager to assist. Me and my family visit this gem as often as possible.

I have always enjoyed the great outdoors and the Huntsville State Park is one of my favorites with walking trails, wildlife, and good picnic areas. It is vary kid friendly and a fun place to unwind and relax.

Absolutely beautiful park. We had most of the park to ourselves. Our site was on the lake and SO quiet and lovely at sunset. We didn't have enough time to do any hiking but it looked like it would have some nice trails. The only complaint is the bathhouse situation. SO COLD ! No heat whatsoever and the water for the showers is only warm. The bathhouse was clean just way too cold in November.

We have visited Huntsville State Park many time in the past, and have always been captivated by the natural beauty of the site. A gorgeous lake, with a multitude of scenic views to be enjoyed, as well as fishing and perhaps even an alligator sighting! Nice, old-fashioned playground for the kids, where they can learn that you don't need wifi to enjoy a swing! Many activity options, wonderful camping spots, and the serenity of the Texas piney woods! A definite must visit!

I love this place! I come here a lot with my dog to go running. You can enter the park on the Lone Star trail for free, but it's always nice to support the state park by paying a visitation fee! Watch out for ticks - I frequently find them on my dog after we run there.

I hike and walk here because it is just minutes from home. It has a pretty little lake. Great camp sites. It does have alligators, but i have never seen one.

We went to Huntsville State Park last Saturday. This is was pretty good day. They have horseback riding, kayaking, catamaran, volleyball place. You just need to arrive early to be able to do everything. Or you can stay overnight camping. Highly suggest. Park is very clean with plenty of picnic tables.the only thing we were not luck with fishing. We tried several piers at different time, but no fish caught. We saw people from boats were able to catch some fish, that's might be the case. But overall experience is excellentWill definitely come back.
