The hidden gem of Castroville. Great soccer fields, 1 mile walking loop, little amphitheater, community pool, amazing birdwatching and the trails on the bluff overlooking Medina Valley are amazing. In the spring the wildflower scene is spectacular. Small fee for picnics. You could loose the eyesore of the RV park, and it would be really great if they had mountain bike trails, but it will all come eventually.Great secret escape from San Antonio.
A nice park. Loved the area down by the river...looked like it should be a fantasy movie scene with all the cypress trees, spanish moss, etc. I couldn't take enough pictures! The park also has hiking trails, sports fields and plenty of picnic areas.
We actually just drove through it to see what it looked like. Lots of picnic tables and outdoor things to do. Not much water in the river now.
We drove through the park and it is very nice. We did hike up the hill to see the cross. They have a nice pool and there is an area for RV's.
river runs through park, grounds well kept and pool nice and clean. Places for tent camping along with picnic area and walking trails.
We so wished we would have found this park before our last evening in town. It was a big treasure in a little town!
Hiking trail up to Cross Hill gives a gorgeous view of the town. Play areas very child friendly. Would love to go back again.
This park is along a small river. There are hiking trails, a walking track, equipment for children to play, picnic tables and small trails that lead down to the stream. There is an RV park on the property also.
Went just a little way but too slick to continue. Trails nicely marked and looked maintained. Also walked historic area downtown and enjoyed.
We love this little park -- it's so pretty and peaceful. The park is kept clean by volunteers. There are several hiking trails. You can rent picnic tables. We like to walk around the track and listen to the water running in the river. They have lots of playground equipment for kids. They also have an amphitheater now.
I am fortunate to live very close to this park, and I am there every chance I get. It has everything: a beautiful pool, awesome walking and hiking trails, a wonderful amphitheater, playgrounds and courts.....all on the banks of the tree-lined Medina River. It is a gem in Castroville's crown!!
Huge park with lots of open area to play. There is a big pool at the main entrance in case you wanna go swimming. I have gone fishing in the river. Once we spent an afternoon swimming throwing horseshoes. SImple fun and great time to spend with Family.
Castroville is a quick drive west of San Antonio, and a true jewel for an easy day trip. There are lots of delicious and reasonable restaurants/ fast food places to pick up a snack, and the Regional Park is downright wonderful this time of year. There are several hiking trails for different abilities/interests in the park, and the sleepy Medina River with its inviting shade and easy access is irresistible (the river is not for swimming, but there is a pool with public access for a nominal fee). There are playgrounds for the little ones, pets are allowed on a leash...this park has a lot to offer. While you are in Castroville, there are several wonderful little shops and if you decide to make a weekend of it, there are places to stay. Take advantage of Spring!
The park has been maintained very well. You can walk along the creek or take a hike on any of the numerous trails. Check out the garden of roots while there.
