After seeing amazing reviews for Stone Mountain, my boyfriend and I took the trek up the mountain to get to the vineyard... A daunting feat in itself! The wines, though, weren't amazing. The view would have been nice on a prettier day. I have seen better views. I'd suggest it if you're in the area, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about making the trip.

We traveled to Stone Mountain while staying at Chesley Creek Cottages, as it was part of the "things to do" pamphlets at our cabin and it was so close in proximity. Good recommendation! As many of the other reviewers have said - the drive is a bit nervewracking. I'm not sure how I would've handled some of the sharp inclined turns had I run into another vehicle on the narrow road, but there were points where you could back up and get a little more clearance to pass. Mostly it was that I'm just an inexperienced mountain driver in a tiny Mazda 3. However, once we made it up to the winery - OH MY GOODNESS THE VIEW. The view here is worth any bit of nerves I had on the trek up. The wines were just okay to me personally, although our host giving the taste testing was very friendly and wonderful. I highly recommend their Meritage; it was the best wine we tried. Definitely worth more visits, hopefully in the spring when there are more leaves on the trees for the spectacular view!

As other reviewers have noted, the ride up Wyatt Mountain Road is quite an experience -- narrow, curvy, and unpaved. That being said, reports of the amazing views are accurate. What an incredible setting!!The wines are above average; we favored the whites over the reds. The Pinot Grigio was crisp and refreshing, with a little more body than most others we've tried. Both the steel and barrel-aged were quite good. The reds lacked the body and complexity we favor, but most were quite drinkable right now. We won't let the road to the top of the mountain deter us; the tasting room is among the very nicest we've been in, and the deck features views from anywhere you sit. We look forward to our next visit and enjoying both the wines and the views.

The saying I took from Stone Mountain was "other vineyards invite you to look UP at the picturesque mountains, we invite you to look DOWN at them". (Or something like that, I was pretty dizzy from holding my breath and making my peace with God so it isn't word for word). Yes, the drive up this mountain is hair raising - you are going straight up or down around hairpin turns on a one and a half lane dirt road featuring a sheer drop on one side and a mountain on the other. However - once there - by far the most beautiful tasting room with separate areas to mingle, opening onto a huge wrap around deck with panoramic views. Unbeknownst to us, they were having a special open house that day complete with expanded tastings, food and live music. Since I wanted to put off the drive back down from Heidi's alp, we decided to stay. This winery has a really special back story: this vineyard recently lost the owner way too early, and the four (maybe five? Sorry - the drive made wine seem like such a good idea I'm a little fuzzy on particulars) sisters are working hard to keep its integrity in their own name while still honoring him. I think it's remarkable and they're doing an amazing job. We spent two full hours there and loved it. If you go, say hi to Chance the dog for me - he's the unofficial greeter and gives this place the final family feel icing on the cake!

This was our third trip to the top of the mountain. We took 2 other family members with us. It is well worth the trip so don't turn around. The winery was left to 5 sisters and they are determined to keep it successful. The wine is nice and the view spectacular. We shared a bottle of Bacon Hollow White Reserve out on the deck. We will be back again next year.

If you're willing to make the drive up the steep and winding gravel road, it is definitely worth it. The views are incredible, overlooking the blue ridge mountains and the vines growing on the slope. The tasting room is huge, and has a lodge-like cosiness with its wood walls and floors. There is a lot of beautiful artwork on the walls as well, some of which is the art for their bottle labels. The wine is good, but is a bit pricey. Their Meritage was especially good. We did a tasting and then got a glass of wine to enjoy on the deck while we enjoyed the view.

This winery has a spectacular view. There is a long deck with chairs and tables for you to sit and enjoy the wines and light fare. Jodi did our tasting and was very nice. Don't worry about the drive. We hiked it!

We had a great experience at Stone Mountain Vineyards. The wine was awesome and it was such a laid-back, beautiful atmosphere. Hoping to get back again soon!

Getting to the top of Stone Mountain is a treat in itself- IF you are OK with a 2 mile drive up a windy, narrow gravel road! No, seriously...it is so worth the drive up. Once you get to the top you will find a large tasting room and a wrap around deck with great views. In my opinion, this place has so much potential. They really should do better seating inside, and add more seating outside-with umbrellas- because in the afternoons, it is so hot and uncomfortable you cannot enjoy yourself. They do allow you to bring your own food in which is nice because you really should plan on staying for a few hours once you get there.

Beautiful setting with a fantastic view. The wines were very good. Service with the tasting was very friendly.

We never even made it up to the winery. It is a single car slippery clay road, up a steep climb, with no place to meet a car without one of you backing up. Luckily we did meet a car at a driveway and were able to turn back. No wine is good enough to risk your life over!

This place is a little challenging to get to. There is a steep winding climb up the mountain with room for only one vehicle...so stay alert. However the view and the wine are both spectacular. Don't hurry...pack a lunch and enjoy the atmosphere. Make an afternoon of it.

Have a driver who is not scared of steep, narrow winding mountain roads, bring a picnic, get a bottle of wine and enjoy the amazing view!!!

You need to drive up a narrow mountain road to get there, but this place is fabulous. Great service, nice atmosphere. Good wines; Nebbiolo and Petit Verdot both excellent. Huge deck on the back with amazing view over the valley and vineyards. Bring a picnic, get a bottle of wine and sit on the deck and enjoy!
