Ihave been going to this Plaza for years graet placeto walk and enjoy out door events and concert. They put on a Great Fire work (RiverFest) ever July . I enjoy the Taste Of Caribbean and Jerk Fest every year , the Pipes in The Valley and Guitars Under The Stars
This is a very nice restaurant. It is a bit pricey but the food is very good. Portion sizes are pretty large so no need to order a lot of items. The first time we went there we ordered steaks, potato, and vegetables. Too much food and not able to eat desert because we ate so much.
The plaza was constructed atop the highway and other buildings which then connects to a beautiful walking bridge. There are statues of Lincoln's meeting with Harriet Beecher Stowe and others detailing the mid-nineteenth century time period. The people are friendly and the views were beautiful. This is one of my favorite places in Hartford.
It was nice to park the car near the boat-launch and then walk for approximately one mile to the Riverfront Plaza. One of the attractions at the plaza is the science center building (see JPG). If you come prepared there are also plenty of shops, cafes and breweries within walking distance of the plaza. The city of Hartford clearly went to great lengths to make this a secure and appealing area to walk. This is a great asset to the city and leaves a positive impression of the city.If you come here during the end of summer be prepared for high humidity, I had to walk shirtless because it was so hot.
The plaza is the capstone of the efforts of Riverfront Recapture to do what its name implies: Give pedestrian access to the Connecticut River, which had been diked off after the 1938 floods. In season, you may be able to take a boat ride from the foot of the amphitheater.
The riverfront area has been restored beautifully. Makes for great pictures! There is a 'ranger station' right there as well, in case you have any questions.
By the river, a site where you can lay with friends on the grass and enjoy a free performance!I really miss the opera nights!
