Personally I think it's a ripe off to pay the price of admission to an event and the. Be charged for parking every single time. I just think that should be included given you use a vehicle to get there, paid admission already (usually) then pay ridiculously marked up souvenirs and food. Nothing too special. Glad we don't have to go into Memphis for events.
We had great seats. The weather was wet but the game inside was great. It was not terribly crowded and even my four year old granddaughter had a ball.
This is a venue with easy access an sample parking. However there was a huge line waiting to enter and not a great selection of eating and bathroom facilities. The sound was okay but not fabulous. The gig I went to was great however could have been a lot better in a better facility.
The venue is nice but dated on the inside. Not near enough bathrooms or workers for snack bars . Also , I am not sure if can smoke , but a lot of people were smoking inside-gross.
Came here for the Motley Crue/Alice Cooper concert. First we get there an hour before the show to walk through, get some souvenirs. Waited out in the cold for a almost 30 minutes I called the number and spoke with a woman. I asked her when the doors were supposed to open she said 6pm(which that's what I was told before) Thus the reason we were already here. I explained to her that it was after 6 and the doors were not opened yet. She says you will have to talk with security. Finally the doors opened at 630. While I was in line to use the restroom the music started. No time to buy souvenirs, barely got a beverage and we took our seats. I paid over 130 bucks for my ticket we are supposed to have a bar on the floor and we did with ONE person working it. Opening cans and pouring them into cups. After the opening band was done, Alice Cooper came on then another break time to run upstairs and use the restroom then back down to the ONE LINE on the floor and the ONE guy was serving beers to people around him not to the line of people who spent heck of a lot more money. So Motley Crue comes on and bam I still have 50 people in front of me. How about you have 2 extra people there helping serve. So I made the decision to run back to my spot to find it had been taken by someone else. This place is a joke!
I've been going to this venue for several years. It used to be the Desoto Civic Center, but has been renamed to The Landers Center. Over the years, the staff has gotten worse and the concessions have gone down a lot in quality, but grown in price tremendously. The venue is good for sporting events, such as hockey, but the sound system is not good for concerts. The removal of the Jumbotron in the middle of the arena was also a bad move.
Our family tries to go to Memphis a couple times a year to watch the Riverkings Hockey team play at Landers Center. The people are always very friendly and helpful and it is located right off Hwy 55 with easy access on and off the interstate. The hockey team is very fun to watch and the rink is well maintained. We live in St. Louis, so it is only about a 4 1/2 drive for us, makes for a great long weekend trip. If you are in Memphis during hockey season, stop by Lander's Center and watch these guys play, very inexpensive and great to support the local team!!!!
We went to the Desoto Family Theatre, which is located within the Landers Center space. Great theatre, comfortable seats, and the show, Les Miserables was awesome.
Landers Center is a nice area and they have a variety of acts and it's close to Memphis. But I always hesitate going b/c of the seating. They are small and too close together. If you are not a skinny person, then you will be uncomfortable with the seating and spilling over into other people's personal space. You also have to pay to park. I don't know why they do this other than wanting more money b/c their parking lot is huge and not located in a busy downtown city.
enjoyed our grandson and granddaughters graduation held at the Landers Ctr. Parking was good and there was plenty of seating. Thunderstorm came over during the speeches and made it a bit difficult to hear everything... But all and all nice experience...Go Tigers
From concerts to sporting events to local theater - the Landers Center has it all. I've attended many, many events at the Landers Center. Every seat in the house is good. The facilities are spotless; the food good; the personnel professional and courteous.
I took my sons to the Landers Center for a jiu-jitsu tournament on Saturday, June 22, and loved the arena itself. It was a thrill for the kids to be able to fight in such a modern, clean, venue. However, the red-shirted 'security' staff, made up of angry older men and women were needlessly rude. They never smiled. They rolled their eyes when asked the simplest of questions and treated us all like criminals. They were very put out and seriously marred what would have been a wonderful Saturday afternoon. These people will not help you and do not care if you have a good time. Good luck.
Lander’s Center has been around for a while as the Desoto Civic Center. My family has attended many sporting events, concerts and shows such as Disney on Ice. The facility is well maintained, clean, the service crews are very hospitable and there is plenty of parking. The only real negative I can give you about the facility would be the trip to and from the events. The roads around the facility get jammed quickly as they are also major traffic routes. On the night of special events they have to have a large police presence to get the traffic under control, but at least they are willing to have the police out there. I have been to other venues that weren’t willing to even try to help with traffic woes outside the facility.
Hospitality And courteous and friendly people Especially Jennifer At the front desk She was Friendly And nice Made it feel welcome And at home Rooms were clean and nice I will definitely come back again I recommend this highly
Yep, hockey in the South, loads of fun. Very convenient location, just off of I55 south of Memphis. Great variety of events. Concerts, hockey, plays. The center is also used for food distribution to the needy.
