Love this zoo! It is great for small and bigger children. It is a larger zoo so plan on spending the whole day there. If you have smaller children, you could split it up between two days. Lots of fun and animal attractions. Was seriously surprised at how great the zoo was the first time I went. I thought it was a pricey but now understand the price after visiting! My kids love it!
The KC Zoo is a very nice place to go as a family. We've had several birthday parties there and the kids have so much fun and really enjoy the animals and fun things to do. Nothing to dislike about it. Great!
The zoo is big so plan on spending a whole day there. The pricing for the train and the tram was a bit confusing. The day was hot so make sure you bring a hat for each person in the party. Friendly staff. Food was pricey. Overall a very pleanat experience
KC zoo is great. Could spend hours just watching the polar bear. Love the Africa area where the animals all roam together. It's a must see on your KC visit.
This zoo is MASSIVE and offers a lot of different varieties of animals! The eating options were great as well. The staff at the zoo was also very friendly and would stop us along the way to make sure we didn't need anything. The announcer for the sea lion show was a gentleman and I would recommend not using it anymore. In my opinion he kinda took away from the excitement of it just because of the tone of his voice. We loved it and had so much fun and the weather was perfect!
The Zoo in Kansas City is an excellent value, it is not on par with the best zoos throughout the country, but it is also not as expensive. The admission is very reasonable, as far as the animals, I highly recommend the polar bears and the penguins. They are both active and have enclosures that are perfect for children.
beautiful and big zoo, we got to see different kind of animals, we took a ride in the red train, saw the pinguins show. we really had a good time, and the teenagers too
I love going to the zoo. There's so much to see and they have been very mindful of making all the new exhibits more natural. The old zoo was too confining, but the new exhibits have plenty of room for the animals to move around naturally while still making them available for viewing. The new penguin exhibit is amazing. I am very proud of our zoo.
People in indianapolis love to brag on their zoo, well this place makes our entire zoo look like one or two small exhibits, we spent an entire day here, and still didn't get a chance to see a good portion of it. My feet were worn out from walking at this place. The Kangeroo exhibit is my fav, because it is completely open....We had a Kangeroo hop right in front of the walking path I was coming down....he looked at me, I looked at him, he looked at me, and I went another way. I was super impressed with their set up, and long for a visit to my hometown zoo again some day.
This is by far the worst zoo I've ever been to. The enclosures are WAY to small for the animals, and the poor things looked like they weren't very well taken care of. Besides that, the layout is a mess. Confusing, and lots of empty space between exhibits. I will never return.
We all had a great time. The Polar Bear exhibit is really nice. We really liked the penguins. It is inside and doesn't have the normally bad smell. The penguins were a hit with the kids. The zoo is very large, so we didn't get to the large animals. The kangaroos were out in the open, so it was nice to see them in that environment. We enjoyed riding the train, and the engineer was great with the kids. Great day at the zoo.
Arrived at the zoo on Sunday, Feb 15 - 20F - cold. Had the zoo to ourselves and maybe 15 other patrons. I think if the weather was a bit warmer, we would have enjoyed it a bit more. Many of the animals were not out or visible due to the cold. We spent a couple hours there and were able to access many of the indoor exhibits. Will like to go again when it is a bit warmer. They did reduce the entry fee to $7.50 due to the weather, which seemed fair.
This zoo is supposed to have some interesting animals, but we missed out on some as they were either sick or being sent away for numerous reasons (e.g. breeding). Our biggest surprise was the kangaroos - they actually walked (or should I say jumped) next to us. These guys were not in a cage so they could go wherever they wanted. The zoo also had some rare big cats. The zoo had some polar bears but is not big on water animals (understandable). You can get a resident price if you can prove you live in MO.
The Kansas City Zoo has improved by leaps & bounds over the last few years. They now have polar bears, penguins, new babies in several areas & more on the way. The tiger area was enlarged & improved & the orangutan area is being rebuilt to give them a quality home & better viewing for visitors. New things are being added all the time.
We visited here with my sister and her children when she came to visit us in KS. Really well done exhibits, docents, and layout. Large zoo with a train and tram, skyway over the African exhibit was so worth the extra fee! Even though it was a busy summer day it didn't feel to crowded and we were able to spend our time with the animals, didn't feel rushed. Plan a whole day visit or at least 2.5 hours. One of the best!
