I visit the Dickinson campus as a parent of a visiting team. The students there are very friendly and helpful. The recent game followed the Dickinson men's lacrosse team having their Ninth Annual Volleyball-a-Thon this past weekend to raise money for the Cumberland County American Red Cross. The 50 members of the team played volleyball on the campus outdoor sand court for 24 consecutive hours. The team raised $5,000 to bring their total over nine years to over $50,000.
Dickinson College is located on a beautiful campus. The professors and staff are very professional and friendly. The students are welcoming to newcomers and visitors.
We drive through this area on our way to another attraction. Very cool. Buildings were attractive, college went for several blocks.
the college, has changed alot as well as the town of Carlisle, no more a haven for the snobbish, this is a quality education center, that really has outreach with the community as a whole! Local churches with Lutheran, baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist and even a church of Scientology pockmark the Carlisle landscape, Dinner is best on north pitt street and west high street, breakfast is best @ fays country kitchen on south Hanover street , only a block from the Molly pitcher cemetery . have fun, and revel in history and both the best planetarium and telescope tower east of Pittsburgh pa.
What's to say? The students (downtown)are classy and well-behaved. The campus is a delight. And the overall setting in Carlisle PA would please any parent's heart - and, hopefully, the student's heart too.
I was surprised I would like Carlisle as much as I did the first time I visited, which was September 2013. It was family weekend at Dickinson College. The "vibe" of the town and the university were just great. I didn't realize Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King spoke here; the location was on the underground railroad during the Civil War.
This is a top notch school on a beautiful campus with buildings that are largely historical and match each other in look and feel.If you are interested in a liberal arts education that will serve you well then you should check this place out.If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.
Our son recently graduated, and during each of our visits to this liberal arts college we found the architecture and grounds on campus to be quite lovely. He made life-long friends, and received a comprehensive education.
The locale is peaceful and relaxed but the students clearly have a passion for a high quality education. The curriculum certainly is varied enough to capture the interests of even the most uninspired young student.
Quintessential college campus, right out of a movie. Lovely people, students are friendly and helpful.
We recently travelled from Western Massachusetts to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to explore Dickinson for my 17 year old daughter, as a potential college. It is a beautiful school with an interesting history, that clearly values its history, and sees its place as it moves towards the future. The information session was interesting, while the tour was good but not great. The buildings are stunning, made from stone and awe-inspiring. Being in suburban Carlisle was less than inspiring, however, especially coming from New England where so many small colleges are in stunning surroundings. The school certainly is impressive and would be a great place to spend four formative years. A bastion of intellect in a sea of central Pennsylvanian industry...
Toured this past weekend. Lovely campus. Great sense of school pride and community. Beautiful grounds and buildings. Incredible history and tradition.
Dickinson has done a great deal to make this a really nice looking campus, and it fits in nicely with the historic parts of Carlisle which is very close by. The college has done a good job of making the campus more green through the extended use of their agricultural programs. good place to go on the college circuit a real PA campus with nice stone buildings.
Beautiful campus, great dining on campus, excellent tour and information session. The location of the college is convenient for walking to shops and restaurants.
As a local I have driven through the campus for years. Beautiful campus, many people comment on the trees, however I like going through the campus with no leaves on the trees since you can see the buildings better. The campus has some older buildings and some newer ones with interesting architectural features. My employer is working on the campus so I get to visit the campus and enjoy it more than I previously have.About the only down side of the campus location is the crossing of Rt 11 via the crosswalks. Several students have been hit here and seriously injured. During peak times there is now a crossing guard. Dickinson College's ranking in the 2013 edition of Best Colleges is 46th in Liberal Arts Colleges. The Law School is now affiliated with Penn State University.
