I have been here many times, they have a wonderful trail system for snowshoes and hiking, wonderful staff, a wide range of activities, and very nice displays. I've been to the fall family events, the winter family events, ( we love the sled dogs) ( and the smores), valentine events, snowshoeing, it is always well done. Mike even helped me set up an orienteering course, for a class I was teaching. My kids (even the teens) love coming here.
I go hiking here regularly throughout the year mainly because its very peaceful, (especially early morning) and a fairly good spot for photography. You can get a good workout climbing the sloping hills up to the top and see a lot of wildlife in the process.
Always a fun place to take my kids to show them the joys of nature!I enjoyed this place as a kid and now my kids can also.
Always a great place to see. It is best in fall when the color is out. the exhibits in the main building are very nice and a hike up to the upper parts of the "hill" are worth it for the view of the Wolf River bottoms. I have gone up there when the garter snakes are starting to den up for the winter. They are small and totally harmless and a reminder of the turning of the seasons.
There are many different marked trails you may take depending on how far you want to go for snowshoeing. The trails are flat and not too strenuous. In the summer you can hike either on flat trails or venture up on the hill. Wildlife is abundant in all seasons. If you walk to the small pond you can see many frogs and dragonflies. We enjoy Mosquito Hill all year round.
Love this place! Great walking trails and fabulous opportunities to look for a variety of birds. They have a lot of family friendly events and in the summer a butterfly garden! Must go....
Outdoor adventures on the trails with plenty of educational markers. Nice facility indoors as well. Lots of educational events.
Enjoyed the walk on the trails. The butterfly house wasn't open when we were there, but the kids still enjoyed peeking in the windows.
