Local artists are highlighted. The building and grounds are lovely, with stunning views of Lake Michigan. Exhibits change frequently, so make this a regular stop!
This was originally a private home; however, I think it is for the best that it now houses artwork, and quilt displays, and anyone can visit and enjoy it. Just walking from room to room, upstairs also, is a pleasant experience.
A large mansion located on Lake Michigan, the Anderson Arts Center hosts wonderful art collections which shift from time to time. It has an excellent gift shop and in the summer is the location of terrific concerts. It can be difficult to find for the casual visitor to Kenosha, but it's worth looking for. Go to their website for listings of current activities and shows.
The Anderson Art Center is one of our favorite places in Kenosha, WI. Great place for viewing art with a Gift Shop. The Anderson Art Center is a lot more than what appears on the surface. Go to their website and see all the different entertainment that is available. There is something going on most of the time.In their website, click on the Special Events tab. Here you will find two of our favorite events… Twilight Jazz and the Gallery of Trees:- Twilight Jazz is a free outdoor Jazz concert that happens about 4 times during the summer months. You can purchase food and wine on the grounds, but most people bring their favorite picnic food and wine. Twilight Jazz is a great replacement for Ravinia which is 35/40 miles to the south.- Gallery of Trees is a great way to start the Christmas season. The Gallery is filled with professionally decorated Christmas trees.
Have been here twice and each time marveled at the wonderful art exhibitions (quilts/fiber art and paintings). It's a beautiful building that's fun to explore, and is remarkably fitting for an art museum. It would be a terrific location for a special event as well. The gift shop has a fantastic selection of jewelry, art, scarves, etc. by local artists, which benefits the center. The only downside is accessibility, which can be tricky upstairs.
We go to the Twilight Jazz concerts at Anderson Arts Center several times a summer. The outdoor grassy area is fun and relaxed. Art at the center is mainly local artists with differing styles. We've purchased work from there and value it. The building is a classic executive mansion on the lake and well maintained.
Have seen several exhibits there and this former home that houses the Art Center is worth viewing on its own.
The Anderson Arts Center is showcasing original handmade art work of a variety of local, regional and national artists (art work, photography, pottery, cards, jewelry, furniture, scarves and many other unique one of a kind gifts). When visiting Kenosha, stop by to see the changing inventory and creative displays in the Art center. Some items you can buy if you see the sign with $ amount by the item. The 9,000 square foot mansion that houses the Arts Center began life as a private residence. The majestic ceilings and large, open expanses of wall space, which were distinctive features of the mansion, now lend themselves perfectly to the display of art work. The center usually offers six to seven major art exhibitions a year. The entire West Wing of the Anderson Arts Center has been devoted to the display of art work done by students attending area schools. Every August, children can attend Summer Art Camps sponsored by the Arts Center. A full slate of art classes and activities are held in Kid's Space, located in a renovated area of the Anderson Art Center Annex. The Gallery is FREE and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
This old mansion has 30 rooms and is right near the shore of Lake Michigan. Several different exhibits are presented throughout the year.
We had a wedding there and we got No service from the staff . Things that should have been taken care of wasn't. Couldn't find any one to help.Never again.
