molokai plumeria

This is our go to place for fresh Plumaria leis. We had them fed-ex'd to our wedding eight years ago and annually ever since, but it was great to see the Plumaria ranch and be able to buy individual flowers cheap and leis for a really reasonable price. Richard is the best.

This place is so amazing. I loved picking the flowers and just taking in the scent of it! The owners are so nice and welcoming.

It's a little hard to find this farm along the highway between the airport and the town, but look for the trees, not the sign, and don't be deterred by the humble appearance of the driveway. Getting there is worth the effort. On our visit, we met Malia, who, with her husband, manages the farm. She showed my wife how to string a lei. When I draped the lei over my wife's neck, Malia squeezed a blossom and had us sniff it, so we would understand how pressure wrings the aroma from the plumeria. That is why, Malia explained, when somebody is wearing a lei, you should hug her tightly and often. Not that I needed such encouragement.We ordered flowers, strings, and a needle to be Fed-exed to us when we got back to Massachusetts. They arrived as scheduled and in good condition, and today my wife will teach some neighbors how to make a lei. This is a delightful activity when the snow outside is two feet deep and the temperature is well below freezing.

We visited the farm close to their closing time, but the kind owner let us in. We ordered a lei, and as there were not enough flowers, we went outside to see the owner picking fresh flowers. We were given extra flower for my son to play with, which was very nice.The owner is also an artist, so we bought his painting.

We visited Molokai Plumeria in April 2014. Upon arrival, you are immediately hit with rows and rows of plumeria trees and their wonderful scent. Jaia greeted us and took us on a tour of the farm. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the plumeria and helped us pick out flowers for our lei. He was also very patient (I made my lei backwards and helped me re-string it). We picked so many flowers that we were able to bring an extra bag full to our room, and it kept our room smelling amazing for days. Jaia and Malia were wonderful hosts. Jaia is also a very talented artist, and in addition to our leis, we took home a painting as well.

I enjoyed the personal tour of the Plumeria farm, and the making of the lie with the Plumeria's I had hand picked in the orchard. It is a very private, yet welcoming place. Serene, and beautiful. I would suggest taking a hop flight though, the ferry ride to get there was torture. Don't be offended by the culture of Molokai, the general population is not as accepting of tourist as the hosts of Molokai Plumeria. Be respectful of their culture and desire to stay primitive.

This was a lovely experience! To see the orchard completely filled with blossoming plumeria was enough to make one feel awestruck with both the sight and the smell. Then, to meet Jaia and Malia was simply delightful. Their great love of the island, the orchard and family was so completely evident throughout the time that I was there. I loved meeting their 12 year old son who has developed some fine artistry with coconut jewelry and other items. Jaia is a talented artist and both Malia and Jaia are wonderful hosts! What fun! Wonderful moments in the span of time!

The tour cost includes explanation of the types of plumeria and how the farm and floral business works. Jaia is a great host who also showed us how to make leis, fed us oranges, coffee candy, and gave us an extra lei. They lasted three days and everywhere we went people told us how beautiful they were. He showed us his art work and we bought some.

Malia, thank you for showing Charmaine and I how to make leis and being such a wonderful host. When you visit Molokai Plumeria ask to see Jaia's art. Great artist and beautiful pictures. Will miss Molokai, Molokai Plumeria and her friendly residents. When I move from Kailua to DC I will reminisce fondly about my visits to Molokai.

This is a wonderful little company. They grow many varieties of plumeria, and will sell and ship to the mainland. The people are very friendly, and are happy to give tours of the farm, visit about growing techniques. We had a great time just visiting with them in general. It is a family business, and we are very glad we stopped. Some of the friendliest people we met on the island.

I was giving a beached themed wedding shower recently and used the services of Molokai Plumerias.I ordered 500 blossoms, they arrived in a box in perfect shape. I made leis for the bride, her bridesmaids, mother of bride and groom and Grandmas, also haircombs for all the guests. We had many blossoms on each table, it was wonderful to look at them and they smelled like heaven. We even had extra so the guests could take them home in little zip lock bags. They stayed fresh for several days when refrigerated. All this for a total of $112.Dick was very helpful in suggesting shipping dates.This was a great unique addition. It was nice to go out, pick my own plumerias and make my own lei. Malia was very informative and showed the whole process from collecting the flowers to shipping out orders. I had a good time.

Terrible communication. I tried to order plumeria flowers from them. I got 2 e-mails responding to my e-mails with questions. Last time I heard from them was on Monday. I needed them for Saturday night. I e-mailed twice to make sure order is in but didn't hear from them so I called today (Thursday). The lady said "Oh you need them on Sat. Well we forgot to ship them today so I hate to tell you this but we can't do anything about it." It is a very special event for me and I was so looking forward to them. I called the Hawaiian Lei Company right now and they were so helpful. I am getting a beautiful ginger lei on Saturday before noon!
