The Indiana Military Museum is a must-see! Even if you never served in the military, you will gain a great understanding of the experiences your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents went through. The objects displayed will blow you away!
We were heading to the George Rogers Clark Monument and noticed the planes sitting out front. I was amazed at all of the planes, helicopters, and equipment they had. The staff were very knowledgeable. The inside portion had everything from Jeeps to Colin Powell's Desert Storm Uniform. They are in the process of seeking a bigger facility as some of the artifacts are in storage
I was blown away at all of the wonderful pieces at this museum. The weekend I attended, was their 3rd annual WWII Re-enactment weekend. They brought in several vendors who collect WWII memorabilia and visitors could go around and inspect what items they had brought and ask any questions we wanted. The museum holds many different vehicles including an incredible WWII Higgins Boat in original condition. It is only one of 12 left in existence. You could climb a small ladder so you can see further into the boat. I took a ton of pictures which was fine by the staff. Do to the weather, the re-enactment was somewhat shortened and unfortunately I could not stay to attend that. However, if you can catch the WWII Re-enactment weekend at the museum I highly recommend it. I plan to make it back again. Many WWII veterans from around the country came and spoke. What an honor to sit and listen to their stories. The museum itself had collections from a number of different wars. They had clothing from General Custer. I was told that the Indiana Museum is one of three places in the country where you can find genuine artifacts of General Custer. The Smithsonian and one other location in Virginia (I think). It is not a huge building, but what they have is very good. A lot of neat vehicles/places are displayed on the grounds also. if you are in the area, you must check this out!
The Indiana Military Museum is a remarkable collection of historic artifacts covering all the major conflicts in our nation’s history dating back to the American Revolutionary War. All of the historic memorabilia within each display case has an informative placard providing the history and significance of the various items. And it is not just American memorabilia but German, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. artifacts that are on display. The extent of the items on display is truly amazing. There is clothing and personal items from Gen. Custer, Gen. George Patton, Gen. Westmoreland, Sec. of State Colin Powell, Gen. Schwarzkopf, and numerous others. Inside the museum as well as on the grounds outside, you will find a large number of military vehicles, aircraft, tanks, and artillery pieces. This museum tells the story of our country, the achievements of our nation, and the human sacrifices made by men of honor. We were totally overwhelmed by the extent of the exhibits and well worth your time even if you are not a big fan of history. Admission fee is very nominal. Future plans are to expand to a 65,000 sq ft facility to house their growing collection of artifacts. Highly recommend this museum!
This is by far the best of the best military museum I have ever toured in regards to WWII. Most of it covers americans and the germans.
Truely amazing what can be accomplished with the dedication of several individuals. All the wars are on display and there is a magnificant display of aircraft, tanks, jeeps, trucks and related items from our various engagements.

The entire Museum is really a must see if your in the area. Lots of history and wonderful displays to view and study. Ample parking, reasonable cost to enter, knowledgeable staff and an overall MUST SEE if your interested in Military History or World History.
Lots of nice pieces and a superb surprise! Well maintained and nice arrangements. Location was nice, easy to find, staff pleasant.
This museum was quite a surprise. There is a lot of Indiana history here and worth the $5 admission fee. The kids enjoyed it as well as the adults.
Amazing grounds. More military memorabilia than you can even imagine. Large planes, helicopters just about any other military vehicle you can think of. You can't miss the museum with the planes out front. Its also close the other historical area's in the Vincennes area. They have exhibits from WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea and other very interesting articles.
Many neat things to see. The kids have a blast looking at all the huge planes. Again...we enjoy history so this is right up our alley.
