I travel with my clubs and have tried to play all level of courses with an open mind as to my expectations. The Trophy course was recommended to me by the General Manager at the Coyote Club in Lafayette, Indiana. I had almost 8 hours until I had to catch a flight out of Indianapolis which I mistakenly thought would allow me to play The Trophy Club. Boy was I wrong!!! As a single I was prepared for a 4 1/2 hour round but with groups in front of me with some golfers sharing one set of clubs I knew I was in trouble. Each hole was averaging 20 - 25 minutes with golfers waiting to take second shots on par fives until the green was clear and then hitting the ball 100 yards. I tried calling the pro shop from the course to no avail with the phone just ringing until I hung up; TWICE. I quit after 12 holes and went into the pro shop to change clothes for my flight. I expressed my frustration to the staff but I guess since I was an outsider they chose to care less. Save your money and play somewhere else close to the airport or just skip playing if The Trophy Club is the only option.
The pro at this golf club B G winings Is a very nice man and a very patient golf coach. He and his staff welcome people the way they want to be welcomed. The club offers an exceptional value for the quality of golf and the conditions of the course
This is a great golf course and very hard golf course. The back 9 is a lot of fun to play... great shot values and well maintained.
I have played this course two times this summer. The first time I didnt really have an idea on target lines, where certain traps were, etc. And I still enjoyed it. Its a great layout with a lot of variety and pleasant surprises. The second time I played it, it was even more enjoyable, knowing where to go/not to go. Greens were nice and receptive when I played both times. I have been coming to Indy for 16 years and I would rate this course in the top three (public).
This is an excellent layout. Challenging shots on each hole and one doesn't need the play the back tees to be tested. if this course was in FL, CA, MI or near a major golf destination, one would gladly pay +$100 to play. This is the kind of course one tells their frienda about.
Tough course, plan on 18 holes because the lay out doesnt end close to the club house till you finish the 18th hole. Price varies but can be a good deal if you play twilight or get on the email list.
this has to be my favorite golf course in the indianapolis area. I never thought i would go to Lebanon for vacation, small town, but this course made it happen. has been rated the #1 public golf course in indiana. great layout, challenging, yet forgiving on the tee shots, anyway. the greens are in nice shape and tend to be deep and narrow. lots of risk/reward shots available. you might want to use a long iron on a couple of tee shots. there is plenty of sand and some water, too. not many people try it, but if you have time to play extra holes, you might try the most forward set of tees. some of the greens are driveable from there, if you can avoid the trouble guarding them! i used to think some of the bunkers were never in play till i tried these tees. not terribly expensive. i think the full fee is around $60, but i've never payed that much. i typically play during their twilight rate on summer weekends, which starts about 3 pm. plenty of time for 18 holes. about $35 with a cart.
