Stayed at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino's hotel. So I spent some time in the casino. This is four floors casino. Two floors are non-smoking, while the other 2 floors are smoking. Nice selection of slots. They have table games and a poker room. Left a small winner. This facility uses Total Rewards which I use in Las Vegas. Looking forward to visiting again.

Stayed here as a halfway point to Nashville and visited Louisville. All other basic hotels across the river wanted around $70-80. Why not stay at a casino for $49?!Gambling was ok. The first 3 dealers were so dry and looked like they hated their life. Tried joking around with them but they weren't having it. Ended on a great dealer that made the experience fun to end evening. Long walk from room to casino. Room was very large with a semi wet bar, huge seating area with a table and king bed. Not sure if that was a normal room or not because they didn't say we were getting upgraded. I did hear later that day that our same room was going for $250 a night during high season. Overall usual casino musty smell. Room was clean overall. Bathroom standup shower needs some caulk and redoing as usual. Wanted late night snack- Ordered late night nachos from the bar on the way back from gambling. Waiter expressed shock in price for nachos (around $14) so he said he hooked us up and gave us more nacho sides. It was literally chips, processed cheese, sour cream and a small tub of sour cream. Yuck. Overall best $49 room you can probably get considering we won at the casino. Free night is good for me!

I went here on a Friday night in mid January, staying at the attached hotel. The boat is much larger than other boats I've been on, and felt more open, possibly due to having higher ceilings. You access the boat through a landing area that has several different restaurants, bars, and shops. They had a buffet, an asian restaurant, an upscale steak & seafood place, and a bar/restaurant with live music that seemed to be a combination sports bar/bbq place.I ate at the asian restaurant, getting a decent Kung Pao Chicken entree. It was a little pricey at nearly $20 for the entree and an iced tea.I got a players card quickly at the counter before entering the boat. It was crowded since it was a Friday night, but I still had no trouble finding open Video Poker machines to play. Most of the table games were full or nearly full though, and I didn't see many $5 tables, mostly $10 minimums and up.There is a lounge on the 2nd floor (i think) that tries to be like a Vegas night club. I think they even had bottle service. A small dance floor in front of the bar was lit by lights & neon, and a DJ played dance music. There were 20-30 people dancing, including a bachelorette party. Directly across from the lounge was a party pit area, with table games worked by more suggestively dressed attrative female dealers. I didn't check the game odds, but I know in Las Vegas those areas usually have worse payouts than normal. The bottom floor is non-smoking, and did have their table games open too. There is also a High limit lounge on the end of one of the upper floors.Drink service was decent, and the drinks were typically priced. I was happy to see several different specialty beer and microbrew selection. Many casinos I visit seem to think that the only thing they need to offer besides A-B or Miller products is Heineken or Sam Adams. One thing odd I noticed was the way the patrons were dressed. I was wearing jeans, a button up shirt, and some casual loafers, and felt like I was the best dressed customer in the place. I've never seen so many people wearing dirty ripped jeans, stained sweatshirts, or just plain sweatpants to a casino before. It was the complete antithesis of the old Las Vegas style, when men wore suits and tuxedos and ladies wore evening gowns. I dropped about $90 over 3-4 hours time Friday night, mainly at Video Poker. Saturday morning about 10:00 am I played again. It was far less crowded, and I was able to play Blackjack at a $5 table with only two other players. One guy was betting anywhere from $25 - 500 per hand. He didn't appear to be card counting, and for the 90 minutes I was there, he appeared to lose $3000-4000. Very odd. Meanwhile, the lady at the table and I were both playing smaller amounts ($5-25/hand), and over that time we both increased our stacks noticeably.I won back all of my previous night's losses, then played on the automated Roulette game they have on the 2nd floor, dropping about $20 before having to hit the road.Overall, I had a good time and the experience mostly met my expectations. If I'm in the area again, I won't hestitate to visit it.

No tables open on non-smoking floor. The cigarette smoke was horrible. Played Roulette for about an hour before I had to leave.

The casino has 4 levels for gaming. level 1 is non smoking and I really appreciate that. the casino areas are always clean and the restrooms are well maintained. there is a decent place to grab a sandwich, pizza etc. without leaving the casino, located on level 2. Each level has a nice bar with video-poker and tvs for sports viewing. If you are a diamond rated player or higher , you can go to Lounge on 4th level. This lounge is a relaxing place to go for a drink and some snacks.I also appreciate the number of security personnel. As a woman , I feel safe and they will see to it that you are not bothered if there is a problem. The people that work here , bartenders, servers, slot attendants , cleaning personnel all seem to take pride in their work and are friendly and glad to be helpful.

good it is close to home and we visit often, sometimes just for the day. very nice place but tight with the comps ans slots. W e only gwt 5 dollars on slots and sometimes they won't take it. The slot attendants are slo nto come to the machines. The buffet is very overpriced.

being avid gamblers we enjoy the benefits and comps we get at Harrahs properties. winning is what really counts. It doesn't mean just mega-jackpots, give me something to play with so MY money stays in MY pocket. We did just that and with the extended play eventually comes a big one. With the extended play comes the comps, Steak Dinner!!!

My husband and I visited for a one night getaway. Nice hotel room with a comfortable bed and a great hot tub downstairs. Was nice that there were a variety of food choices to have both at the casino and where we could a bite to eat at the property too.

Terrible service! It is New Year's Eve and we just left Horseshoe Casino. The main bar on the boat had 2 bartenders and the others had 1. The lines were ridiculous for drinks. We ended up having to get off the boat and get a drink at one of the small bars they had set up. I can't imagine what Legends was like since every time we go there there are not enough bartenders. Good thing is we did not have to worry about the ride home since we had one drink all night.

I love doing things; the trouble is most things nowadays cost so much that most of us have had to scale back during this recession. That is where Horseshoe Southern Indiana comes in to the picture. Understand, I am not a big gambler. A few dollars in the slots and I am a content person. I have tried other Indiana casinos but came away not really caring to make another 'special' trip there. But, at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, it is a different story, that is unless you come to make money. Because, like horse racing, casinos are not designed to make people winners. A bit of fun is basically what most of us pursue. And, a fun time can be had at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Unlike some casinos in desolate areas, Horseshoe Southern Indiana has ample games for most people. Situated on five florrs, with the first floor being a non smoking area, there is room to move around and to people watch which I like to do. Although not allowed to give away liquor, it does provide soft drink machines which are complimentary. That is also something not found in other Indiana casinos I have visited. The games are varied in content having something for everyone's interests. If you do not have a Total Rewards card, join at no cost and be rewarded with invites throughout the year.Granted this is not Las Vegas, but it is ample entertainment for an evening.

My wife and I visit a lot of casinos from Vegas to "wherever." To be honest, we weren't expecting much when we decided to head over to the Horseshoe in Elizabeth, Indiana. I mean, ELIZABETH? INDIANA?However, we were very pleasantly surprised by what turned out to be a really nice experience. We were promptly greeted at the lobby desk by a very friendly attendant who quickly checked us in and sent us on our way to a very clean and spacious room. The hotel is detached from the casino, connected by an indoor walkway where you can either hoof it or ride a golf cart shuttle. It's a nice walk, so that's what we did, stopping at the Corner Cafe for a late lunch - a couple of tasty pastrami panini's. The girl behind the counter was very friendly. In fact, all of the hotel and casino employees went out of their way to say "hello" and wish us a great day. The Horseshoe just may be home to the friendliest staff we've ever met! Kudos for that! The casino is a a riverboat with four decks. Deck 1 is a non-smoking casino. It's a great idea, but what Deck 1 lacks is a real exciting gaming experience. The slots seemed old, and there were no table games - at least when we were there. Deck 2 offers a wide range of slots and video poker, including quite a few with good payouts. Deck 3 is where most of the action is with lots of the latest slots and a large area for table games (more on that in a second). Deck 4 is the high-limit deck so we didn't spend any time there. My wife is a slot player and didn't have much luck until the following morning. She still says the machines seemed tighter than they were in Vegas on our last trip. I play Blackjack and the game is really good at the Horseshoe - lots of $5 shoe games with 3-2 blackjacks. They also have the "plus 3" side bet that is just a waste of money (in my way of thinking) although a guy next to me won a couple thousand on it. Go figure! But I came away a winner over three sessions. The dealers were very friendly and helpful to inexperienced players. We did the Spread Buffet for supper and - well, it's okay, but nothing to write home about. We wish we had gone to Binion's Steak House which has a $39 special Monday-Thursday.All in all, we really enjoyed the Horseshoe and now that we live in Lexington, KY we'll visit more often. My wife and I both want to compliment the staff for their warmth and friendliness!

Visited the spa and was lucky to get a slot for a impromptu thirty minute facial. The spa staff was friendly and accommodating for having no notice or appointment. The facial was relaxing and beneficial. Very pleased! ,yy

My husband and I traveled this past weekend for his birthday. We got a great deal on a room using our Total Rewards card, leaving us more $ to spend in the casino. We've been to several casinos, and this one has to be one of my favorites. It was HUGE! 4 levels. My husband plays table games, I enjoy slots. They had a special Saturday drawing that you swiped your players card to enter. My husband's name was called and he and several others got to choose a spot on a board to put their fist through to win prizes. He won $500 in slot play. Since he's a table game person, he gave me his five $100 coupons which kept me busy a good part of the evening. I walked away with $300 in cash from those coupons, so I was quite happy with the evening. We had birthday dinner at Binion's steakhouse, which was great. We'll definite re-visit this casino. It was a little over 4 hrs from Knoxville, an easy drive.
