Poor customer service does not describe our experience enough. A rude and angry man responsible for the place argued, actually yelling and threatening, that my 9-yr old and I stole from the farm because they saw us eating a couple of strawberries as we were picking 20 pounds of them. No problem, I said, offering to pay whatever price he thought appropriate. But no, he kept yelling and threatening to call the police, obviously not doing any of the farm business he was there to do. So you go there to pick and think that this is going to be a nice experience, and you help the farmer keep a running business in the ever-growing city. And then you and your kid get yelled at and threatened. Crazy, right?If you are looking for a nice place to pick good quality strawberries, in a friendly atmosphere, then this is NOT IT. Actually, I'd run as far as possible from it. There are so many choices in the area, look for instance at the carolinaparent . com website; why bother with rude and illogical people?

Phillips Farms was great! I came out with my two kids 6 & 8 and they had such a blast! When we first got there we were shown where to park because it was a busy day being a Saturday. We came up to the staff working at the front and they gave us information about how picking works, what to pay, and of course the rules. No one was rude to me. I completely understand the basket situation because any other farm you go to you have to purchase their baskets as well so why not? Makes it easier for me to just take them home and bring it back. My kids were ecstatic to have their own. At only $1.25 for a basket I pretty much have that in my change purse. Anyway, we were shown where to pick and oh my were there a lot! I had to be sure my children did not eat them all before we paid. All in all we ended up with about 10 pounds of berries for $12 or so. That was a great price compared to the grocery store. I asked if any chemicals were used and they only use fertilizer they said and the staff mentioned he eats them "straight up" all the time. On the weekends they have this Fun Park for the kids and parents to enjoy. It's only $5 per person and there is so much to do!! My kids loved the cow train ride and these rolling racer things. They also have the cutest animals to feed right from your hand! I really liked the fact there was a sink to wash little hands. The staff working was so helpful and they seemed to enjoy their job as well. I asked about other activities they have and come fall season there is more to do! I look forward to coming back for the corn maze and maybe take a few friends of mine without the kids to the haunted farm. I enjoyed my time and anyone who didn't was probably just having a bad day to begin with. It's a great place and I look forward to coming back for more! Thanks Phillips Farms!

My friend and I took our children to this farm to pick strawberries (2 adults, 4 kids). As soon as we arrived the kids excitedly bounded out of the car and headed to the rows of strawberries which were only 20 feet away from our parking spot with no fences or signs between us. We walked toward the house to check in and get our baskets and had barely gotten 100 feet before an unfriendly man came up to us, told us to not let the kids in the rows and even told the kids (not the adults) to not eat any strawberries since they had not yet paid for them. REALLY? We are clearly there to buy a ton of strawberries and there are no rules against eating while you pick. So why say that other than to be a total jerk? We surmised that he must be a bar bouncer in the evenings. This did not set a good tone but we shook it off and headed to check in. Once there, a young lady went through a lengthy spiel about how you can NOT use your own basket to pick. You must use their baskets and pay for the baskets. However you can re-use the baskets on subsequent trips without paying again. Other people were asking why this was the case and she seemed annoyed at having to explain. Allegedly this has to do with weighing the berries at the end but that seems like baloney to me. The baskets are light. If you bring a heavier basket from home and it adds to the berry weight and your berry charges at the end, isn't that your problem? We did our picking and I will say the rows were spacious and clean and picking was easy. The berries were lovely too. We got them weighed and paid our bill. Afterwards the kids wanted to play in the play area they had set up (a few go-karts and a hay slide and such). It turns out there is an additional charge for that ($5 per kid). If I had liked the people, I might have been happy to support their operation and pay this charge. But honestly, they were rude from the get-go and it wasn't just one person so forget it. We took our money elsewhere and got some ice cream instead. In my book, there are a number of places in the area that offer pick your own strawberries so I suggest choosing one that will treat their customers with a bit more courtesy.

Visit this small scale farm for Halloween and enjoy the fall foliage, the corn stalk maze, the old time town setting, and the pumpkin patch. Then, come again in the Spring for the fresh produce and strawberries. Pick your own...being respectful to the earth and the farmer caretakers. Enjoy some soda and lemonaid, and just sit back and savor the freshness in the air. Very easy to find off of highway 55 in the Cary area. On a sideroad that is very easy to drive--no chaos, or bad traffic. Easy to find off Davis Drive and Carpenter Firestation road too. Signs all over.

Our 6-year-old grandson gave Phillips Farms a real thumbs-up as we left this afternoon. He and his two younger brothers, ages 5 and 3, had a real blast at this wholesome, kid-friendly attraction. My husband and I were amazed at the number of clever and fun activities that were included in the admission price: two corn mazes (easy and difficult), a huge tube slide, a rope "spiderweb" for climbing, a giant tic-tac-toe game, tetherball poles, pedal car races, "duck" races (each child vigorously pumps water into a trough, propelling a rubber ducky), a "cow train" (a ride around the facility, pulled by a tractor), an allergy-free hayride that brings the riders to a real, living pumpkin patch where one can pick his own pumpkin), the ubiquitous bouncey house and more. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, kettle corn and the other usual refreshments available. This was, for the most part, an enclosed enviornment that felt ultra-safe for kids. We feel like we stumbled on a local treasure.

I love the fact we have this farm so close to Cary,Morrisville. The people who work here are friendly and helpful.Strawberries are delicious!
