Officers row is a series of building built after the US Army took over the Fort from Hudson's Bay Co. Civil war generals and later ones served and lived here for a time. Combine with touring Fort Vancouver NPR.
So nostalgic. We used to live in the house next door to the Grant House. Wonderful sidewalks for walking, and greenspace to enjoy in good weather. It's a must see if you visit Vancouver. Rumor has it some of the houses are haunted....I can attest to one of them being haunted for certain!
If you are looking for a place to take your morning walk or just want to stroll through a beautiful neighborhood and look at turn of century homes, check out Officers' Row in the Ft. Vancouver National site. As you stroll you will find lots of interesting information panals that explain the past history of this area. Officers row is adjacent to FT. Vancouver plus there is an historic home to visit (the Marshal home). The park visitors center is across the street and is a good place to start if you have never been here before. Lots of free parking. Check out the Grant house for lunch.
This row is where the most important residents of Vancouver lived in the past. Very interesting historically and beautiful architecture
Beautiful neighborhood with a history! Great old Victorian homes built for officers, evidently. This is a great place to take a walk and some selfies!
Had a nice day so we took a stroll in the area. Lots of nice historical houses to see. Some were open for tours with gift shops inside. Reminded me of some plantation houses in the south. Huge yards and grounds in the area. Nice drive through the area.
If you are in Vancouver, driving along or parking and walking along Officer's Row is a relaxing and easy way to admire beautiful mid-nineteenth century architecture and enjoy a lovely view of the Willamette River. I took my mother here and she admired the homes and river view from the car. We got out of the car to walk around the Grant House. It was a short walk. You can park right outside of the House.
Beautiful homes on a tree lined street. Have lunch at the Grant House on the porch. Terrific menu, great food.
this is a very nice place to visit some of the original homes are available for you to look round, if you like history and things its well worth the visit
Thoroughly enjoyed strolling beneath the giant trees along the Officer's row and visiting the historic homes. Lunch at the Grant House was delicious and special. It is good to walk where some very famous American military figures have been and to imagine life there in their time. A beautiful setting along the Columbia and a stone's throw from the very historic Fort Vancouver. Well worth the visit!
I agree with some of the other reviewers this is a very interesting area of Vancouver and is very elegant and pretty to view, but it is not necessary to get out of your car unless you are looking for some exercise. There are signs that can be viewed from the street identify some of the houses as some are being used as business now. Drive around the area to get a feel for how it must have been when it was fully operational.
Homes were elegant and the grounds were well kept up. The park is beautiful, quite and a nice place to relax, also go to the barracks area.
Homes were elegant with beautiful grounds. The Marshall house very interesting. Grant House was great place for dinner.
If you are in Vancouver and you miss this location, you have missed Vancouver. You must be in B.C. - the other vancouver.Do yourself a favor and don't just drive through, but get out and walk. The army quarters that is now part of the National Park Service is south of Officers Row. The Grant House - one of the best restaurants in Vancouver is located here. The Marshall House is a wedding venue. The history of this place and the nearby Fort Vancouver are worth a trip if you are visiting.Missing this place is like going to St. Louis and missing the Arch.
I love officers row. The houses and park are wonderful. It's never crowded and quite and peaceful. The best park in Vancouver.
