If you park at the Artist Point parking lot, you already have a lot of altitude. That makes the climb to the the top of Table Mountain a lot more accessible. The first portion is a fairly steep climb to the top, followed by mild ups and downs as you traverse the length of the mountain. Many people stop shortly after reaching the top, but at only 1.8 miles each way it is worth going to the end.You get frequent looks over sheer cliffs that are great for a thrill. On clear days you get first class views of Baker. Even in September you still have some melting snow in the many ponds you pass. Some of the top is bald and rocky, some has greenery and many birds. You can see the parallel Chain Lakes trail far below you.On the way back down, the steep part is extra thrilling because it looks like it is dropping of in front of you into infinity. This is well worth the moderate effort, and it is less crowded than the Artist's Ridge trail. Looking off the edge, you get to see a lot of what you would see on Chain Lakes trail, but from higher up. (assuming you go all the way to the end).I went on a weekday, starting at 9AM. I did not see a single other person on the trail until most of the way back. That made it 1000% better.

If you are visiting Artist's Point and want a short hike that's a little more challenging than Artist's Ridge (which is exquisite!), the hike up to the top of Table Mountain is a great trail. It is fairly short and not as steep as it looks, but the view from the top is amazing. You can see a panorama of Mt. Shuksan, Mt. Maker, Baker Lake and the Bagley Lakes right below. Lots of great hiking in the Heather meadows area, highly recommended.

If you want to see a good sight of the mountain, you can either hike up if you are an adventurer, or ride the cable car so you can see the whole of Glacier. When we got there, the weather was excellent at the start of summer. They say it is also great to come by every winter time. You get to ski on the different mountains – Mt Baker, Mt Shuksan and the Hell’s Highway which is just too steep. When we got there, they all look green and grassy, but winter time is a different season so we might just go back there to see what the talk is about.

We were making our third trip up to Heather Meadows when we found out the road to Artist Point was already open. During our previous two August trips Heather Meadows was under snow and the road up was closed. At the top a ranger suggested we take the short hike up Table Mountain. It was perfect for our 4 adults and 2 kids. The 1.4 mile rt hike was mostly clear of snow and led us nicely to the top of the mountain. There were a few points of nerves as the trail does have some steep drop-offs but nothing that a careful walk can't conquer. At the top the views were spectacular. After photos down the trail we went and found a nice table for a picnic lunch back at Heather Meadows. What a great day!!!

It's a short hike and the views (along the way and roaming up at the top) are quite impressive. There was still a whole bunch of snow in September. The trail is exposed with some loose rock/gravel so watch your step (and kids - they may be more sure-footed with a lower center of gravity but may still need some hand holding). Ill advised for anyone with a fear of heights due to the exposure. Take some time after you have finished and watch others ascend/descend - provides an interesting/entertaining perspective on the trail! I note there is a fee for "this attraction, but that's actually for the parking/NW Forest Pass.

We did the medium walk on top ot the mountain, well signposted. Great views all round on a lovely sunny day. Dassi's were popping out everywhere!

Although it was foggy on table mountain the view of the city was amazing. Also I was able to get a great view lions head.

When the snow allows, this trail takes you up to the top of a bare ridge with a fairly short approach trail. The climb has switch backs to tame the steep spots for people of average physical condition. Neat small flat rocks on the ridge entertain many kids and some adults with stacking them into rock "sculptures". Nt. BAker is right there in your face and the other direction has some alpine lake views.

The climb is steep and picarious. Makes you feel like a mountain goat. Not for the faint of heart. However views from up there are well worth the hike. Spectacular!

We visited this amazing location,Table Mountain at the start of spring so the weather was just perfect. It was a comfortable early twenty something Celsius.table Mountain cableway is best seen on a weekday to avoid the crowds. our two boys marvelled at everything on the way to the cable car ,including the spiders and other insects on view.We made our way to the revolving cable car and the boys were incredibly vocal at this point. They could not believe that the floor beneath was moving!Meanwhile the adults were trying to take in the views and snap away happily.Once at the top ,u exit onto the mountain top and take in the majestic views. best to wear comfortable shoes and have a light jacket in case of windy conditions. The boys skipped about happily and we stood along the many outlook points taking in the scenery of the city bowl area below. It was truly an unbelievable sight and especially after leaving the city eleven years ago .We then made our way to the well stocked cafe for a welcome coffee and ice cream break. The variety is good and we took home some souvenir biscuits for the boys.A must do in the spring summer months!

It's quite a climb but the view is worth it. It is just past the Mt Baker ski area
