The best I have ever had @ Abalonettis. Chowder was excellent. Altho a "Hole in the wall"- quality "Freshly cooked food"
Leaving Cannery Row for Lovers Point, I walked past the waterfront -- a mile-long walk by the ocean with immense, indescribable beauty. Within the area of Stanford University's Hopkins Marine Station by the Ocean View Blvd., dozens of sea lions were lying lazily on the beach and rocks, being gregarious and enjoy the warmth from sunshine. More splashes were created with water hitting craggy rocks wave after wave. Like smashed jade reduced into bits and pieces or like a mosaic scene that I could only see through a Kaleidoscope. There are advantageous spots to view Lovers Point in a distance. No wonder I saw an artist set up his stand there adding a few brushes to his painting while humming a pleasant tune. Several young girls were poised on a rock close to the bike trail for pictures one by one.
Liked theWildlife walking path was nice alot people rented bikes disliked Fisherman's Wharf another tourist trap
Love, love, love this place to walk, sit or just be. Seals and otters, plus many birds visible from the waterfront. Also enjoyed watching the kayakers, boats and divers. Fun place to people watch, too.
Walking distance to all the fresh local seafood that you can eat. Other water activities like whale watching and fishing are there too.
Monterey and Pacific Grove are a model for how the waterfronts should be. Excellent paths, lots of places to park along the route and free of debris. We've been coming here for 50 years, it's breathtaking any time of year.
looks of great food FISH , SHEL FISH great views too watch the sea life. I like the Clam chowder tasting as I walk the wharf... great experience
Be sure to walk the beaches. Enjoy the waves crashing, the brisk water, the ocean spray, the cool sand....
You can drive or walk the waterfront. Either provides a spectacular experience. There are walking trails to let you explore more closely. The scenery is spectacular and beautiful. Lots of wildlife to enjoy along with sounds and smells to awaken your senses.
It's very easy to get here. Just take the Highway 68 exit west off Highway 1. Just follow it all the way into Pacific Grove and the waterfront. There are lots of places to stop and get out and walk. This is definitely one of the prettiest water front places anywhere. You'll eventually loop back into Monterey.
Lots of walking, biking and running trails and absolutely spectacular views of the waves crashing against the rocky shore. Stunning!
Love the views, from the beach also of the marina area. Fisherman's Wharf is great. Ocean wildlife great fun to watch.
Saturday October 25th started out with a serious rain storm, but by the time we got up and going, it started to clear up a bit. we debated whether we should head for the beach, cause we thought might be pretty soggy to walk on the sand, but not at all. and when the sun came out, it looked like there were diamonds dancing on the surface of the water. what a sight!
if you love the outdoors and the sea, this is the area for you! Kayak rentals, scuba diving, whale watching tours, sea lions and sea otters and dolphins playing in the water….whether you like to get in the water, on the water or just watch everything from dry land, this is the nature lovers perfect location!
Walk the bay, down town and on Cannery row. Drive north from Cannery row along the ocean to the 17 mile drive. Stop often to see the bay and beaches.
