Wonderful photo opportunities. Must have been interesting to live here when these were private homes
The place is a time capsule of old Oakland at the turn of the 19th century with the collection of beautiful houses to admire. I am so glad that many were saved from demolition when the freeway was built. Also Rio California is there for good Brazilian food.
I walk by there all the time. Oakland moved a load of old Victorians to this site, rebuilt them and they are various kinds of offices, lawyers, non profits etc. They are actually pretty well documented and interesting if you are into local Northern California history. It is something to see
Love this place on the water, rode Segways around this park, so fun! So many people enjoying this park. A great place to get some exercise!
This is a place to unwind and just lay on the grass next to the lake. There were Frisbees flying everywhere!
We just had our daughters wedding here (Steampunk theme), and we couldn't have found a better place anywhere! The setting is a group of Victorian era homes centered around a delightful fountain. With everyone dressed in Victorian top hats and period costumes, it looked like the set of a movie. The weather was fantastic and the ceremony was outside on the stage with the fountain behind. The reception was in one of the houses. This was a perfect location and Barbara who we booked the venue with was charming and a delight to deal with.
if you love architecture and a peaceful place to walk go check out preservation park...
This is not a place to see if you are in NorCal for vacations. It's just a small complex of 20 or so well preserved victorian houses. It's a small oasis inside the city but it's really nothing as a tourist attraction. It can be seen in ten minutes.
Preservation Park is a beautiful setting for a meeting. There were 45 attendees for our meeting which was held in Nile Hall. The grounds are pretty - it's a Victorian era block of buildings that were moved to the site and arranged just so with nice landscaping and a central fountain. The meeting coordinator at Pres. Park, Barbara, was fabulous to work with, as well.
