This is a great place to bring the family, go for a run, walk the dogs or otherwise enjoy the views and weather. Well paved and a great walk with some historic sites, Well maintained, seems quite safe and you can get a great workout, but also easy for others less mobile to turn around or otherwise not be left high and dry, once they get tired.
Great walk great views and it's free and fun for all. Parking is easy and it's fun for all to walk the trails. Recommend this walk for families and dog lovers!
My daughter and I hiked this trail on December 21, 2014. I have hiked this trail before alone and felt safe. The trail is asphalt and goes around the mountain and I find it quite easy. We park in the Carlson Bark Park which is off Mission Inn Blvd and there is a walkway along Mission Inn Blvd - you can watch and hike on dirt until you get to the asphalt path or there is a ramp before the bridge and you turn right and walk up the asphalt path. This ramp is in front of a large, beautiful home. The hike takes about 30 minutes to the top and about 20-30 minutes down the trail. Usually there are a number of people on the trail. If you get confused about which way to take down, just look up at the top of the mountain and remember where you parked your car. There is a cross and American flag on top of the mountain. The first time I hiked this trail I took an incorrect path on the way down and then had to walk around the mountain through a neighborhood to return to my car. If it is a clear day, the view of Riverside from the top of the mountain is beautiful. Good picture taking on top of the mountain while standing/sitting on top of a rock (be careful and make sure you have good balance).
A busy trail. Pleasant, sunny, open. Several options for going to the stop - steep or longer and less steep. Great views on top and some nice history signage. Treat yourself to a hike!
This is a great way to see the entire Inland Empire. If you stay on the trails, the hike is not too strenuous, but there were some adventurous hikers who went off the beaten path for a riskier trek. The cross at the top is awe-inspiring. The giant U.S. is amazing. Can't wait to go back!
Beautiful view of the city and Santa Ana river bed out to the surrounding hills and good hiking trail. Bring water to hike once on the trail there is no facilities nor water.
This hike is like a free for all. There is a paved road that winds around the mountain but we also saw people jogging straight up so that's what we decided to do. It took about half an hour for us to jog up but the seasoned joggers took half that time. The view from the top is nice and the plaques and friendship bridge are very photogenic. I would like to go back here in late winter one day.
We took our young granddaughter and her two puppies. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the park. Next time we visit, we plan to take a picnic and spend more time there.
Mt. Rubidoux Park is located just west of downtown Riverside. The "park" consists of two paved walkways around and up the small mountain. One route is a shallower 2 miles while the other is a steeper 1.25. The hikes include several historic markers and provide excellent views of Riverside and the surrounding area. The morning we hiked there were lots of hikers, including families and dog-walkers, but the walkways are wide enough to easily accommodate multiple hikers. This is a pleasurable morning hike, but may be a bit stressful in the afternoon if the temperature is high, for there is no shade on this rocky mountain. Also be aware there are no restrooms.
Awesome hike. Paved hike is most traveled. But...You can take a partial dirt path up also. My daughter and I took part of the dirt path, saw many lizards, no snakes. Took us about 40Mins. to get up to the top. Nice views. Try to do this hike early or late when sun is not going to make it uncomfortably hot for you. There were many children going up with their parents. Older couples walking with dogs. We walked by small benches for resting and taking in views, under and over cute bridges, by huge USA flag and when we got to the top, there was a huge white Sign with cross says there is an Easter Sunday Service there. Must be nice. We highly recommend this hike. Running or walking or biking.
Great hike up to top of mountain with two options of trail difficulty. People of all ages hike the mountain and many dog lovers. Love to make it to top and take additional laps around top of mountain to challenge myself. Usually clear view of Riverside and beyond. Only complaint is to the inconsiderate dog owners who let the dogs do their business on the trail (& they even provide dog waste bags for your convenience). And, for the graffitiers who try to destroy natures beauty but park managers keep place clean and enjoyable.
I walk this mountain twice a week and love the walk. There is always people walking so you feel very safe. The road is paved so your walk is easier. You can enjoy the beautiful views as you walk. Take your camera for some great pictures. Sunrise and sunsets are so beautiful from the top!
I run this mountain everyday and let me tell you it's wonderful .. Aside from the dog droppings everywhere it's a beautiful hike to the top
We have been hiking up this mountain for years. Not only is it a great safe hike but there are amazing old structures that were constructed in the 30s along the way to the top. There are always people walking up and down so you never feel like you're all alone. It is a paved road as it used to be open for vehicles but due to safety it is only a walking route now. Once you get to the top you have a 360° view and it is a beautiful view!
This is a wonderful place for a less than strenuous walk to the top. The view in all direction on a clear day is terrific. We happened on a view spot on the north side where we were treated to the Riverside Police Department working radar on Mission Blvd. for numerous speeders. What fun. And set the calendar for the Easter climb. Again. A lot of fun at the top.
