redlands dog park

We had high hopes when we went to check out the Redlands Dog Park, thinking it might be a good place to allow our Doxie off the leash to romp a bit with other pups. Changed our mind. The dog park is rather small for starters, but that wasn't the problem. They have two fenced areas with nice lawn, one for large dogs and one for small. (So far, so good.) But there were a couple large dogs in the small dog area in addition to a flock of small children. I'm not anti-kid, but our dog is afraid of small children because they all want to pet her at once, running at her, squealing, etc. She was traumatized by this early in her life. The mothers of the children were absorbed in chatting with one another, and the kids were having a ball obviously. Just the kind of scene our dog cowers at. It was a busy weekend afternoon so it was rather crowded. We may go back on a weekday, hoping for a scene better for us.

Lots of dogs and there owners frequent this park just off of Redlands Avenue. (Or road). Picnic tables and doggy bags provided for your use. Not much coverage to get away from the sun. Two parks-1. For larger dogs and 2nd for littles ones. Lots of room for both groups. Really is a great place to social your dog.

My dog Sophie had eye surgery and had to use a cone around her head. We had to watch her so as not to damage the eye. We walked around many areas to give her new places to explore. The Ford park was excellent for her to roam and sniff to her hearts content. It had a childs play area and a good safe feeling. I will bring her here again when she heals

We bring our dogs twice an month or so. We are in the small dog park. Nice park, water is a problem at every dog park I've ever been to, so we bring our own water and dish. It does get hot during the day, but this after all the desert. There are trees planted but it takes time for them to grow. This park was built with donations not city money so it's pretty great as far as I'm concerned. Nice benches to sit on and tables as well.Never had any problems with owners or dogs for that matter. Everyone seems to take responsibility for their dogs and if there's a problem with the dogs, it is straightened by both parties quickly and as tactfully. I would recommend you try this park.

A dog park is a great idea... a place for our furry friends to socialize and be "free" is great! But it's our responsibilities as owners to make sure our pets are taken care of. I no longer bring my pup there because there are some dumb owners that bring their SICK dogs to infect the perfectly healthy dogs! Now, granted, some owners might not know their dogs are sick until it becomes blatantly obvious... But when your dog has thick mucus bubbling out of its nose and is constantly coughing/hacking up more mucus, how do you not notice that? And why would you even bring your dog to the dog park?? If you know your dog is sick, just keep it at home until it gets better!!!Another thing, the water that is there for the dogs to drink never gets filtered! The only movement it gets is from dogs drinking it. Other than that, it just sits there! That's another way for dogs to get sick. Ever wonder why people run up to their dogs to stop them from drinking out of the provided water bowls??And to top it off, there's this big ghetto chick that is annoying as hell, who likes to start problems with anyone she can... especially the poor elderly ladies. If she could be banned from this dog park it would make the environment a little bit better.

I have a new dog, a 3-year-old lab mix, very friendly with people and dogs. I've taken him to the dog park twice. The first time there was a guys with a pit-bull, he had good control over the dog and my dog steered clear, playing with "Sophie", a delightful mixed-breed. Went to the park again yesterday and there was a guys with a large German Shepard, that was very aggressive, so I felt compelled to leave. No effort was made on his part to control his dog, he simply watched from a distance. It would be nice if there were some trees and some monitoring of the dogs/owners using the park. Not sure I'll go back, too risky for my pup.

We took our little guy, Min-Pin, to the new dog park. Been looking forward to it opening. When we got there it was a teensy bit rough to find, but anyone can find it with a little effort. It's a dirt road, and my car is not meant for that so kinda rough. The parking area is very small. If the park is packed there will not be enough parking. All of that aside, I would still go. But, my negative is there is no shade what-so-ever. It is hot hot hot. I am a red head and my dog is sensitive to heat. They need trees, large trees. Yes I understand it takes time to grow them, but maybe someone can donate a grown one? Or install large umbrellas? Something. Honestly it was down right miserable there because of the direct sun. We went 3 x's in hope of a different result but he just wants to leave right away because it's too hot and he has no where to hide from it. So until that changes we won't be going back. :(

We weren't sure what to expect and were pleasantly surprised when we found that our dogs loved it. Like many other dog parks, this one separates the big dogs from the little dogs. The entrance is a little hard to find and we weren't crazy about the dirt parking lot but overall enjoyed out time there with our puppies.
