Although a beautiful small attraction, make sure you visit in the months when lavender plants are blooming.
Lovely Lavender scented goodies to fit any gift basket. It was a few days before Valentines day so I bought my daughter lotions and soap and other goodies. the scents are wonderful and the farm is in a lovely setting. We met the owner, a transplant from "South Africa and she was lovely to talk to. A great side trip from all the wineries and a delightful place to visit
High point of the visit was the friendly cat. The lavender was nice and they have a small shop. The items were nice, but way overpriced. There is an outdoor seating area. Easy to find off the road. Best part: The cat is nice.
I have been to this lavender farm several times over the past few years, and I don't know why I have not written a review until now. They have really spruced it up relatively recently, as there are now sweet purple lounge chairs and tables at the edge of the lavender rows for you to enjoy. It's quite a lovely place to bring your picnic, or just have a rest. The little store sells the best smelling lavender in the world, in my opinion. I live 90 mins away from this place and I drive there just to buy their essential oil. I know they can ship it, but it's a brilliant excuse to take a relaxing day off. The Lavender plant they grow, I am told, is a different strain of lavender than you would normally buy. French lavender (when I say French, I mean from France) is almost as good as this stuff. Compare it to the lavender oil you get from your local grocer, and you will notice a difference enough to warrant the almost doubled price at whole foods. I use it to make skin care products. Or when I need a little relaxation, I just take a whiff of the bottle. Instant mood change. They DO have a line of their own skin care products, which has expanded throughout the past few years. They also sell a delightful lavender infused honey. And they also sell culinary lavender, which you need to purchase if you want to cook with the herb. (You can't just use any lavender, has to be culinary.) It is right down the road from Beckman Vineyards, which in my opinion is the best wine in the area.
On the recommendation of an artist we met at the weekly Sunday Arts & Crafts show, we stopped at Clairmont Lavender Farms as a side-trip on our way home. The drive up to the property was beautiful, going between the oak or pepper trees lining the driveway. What used to be an equestian property, is now full of lavender fields. There's a very small building that sells their products, including a lavender-scented hand sanitizer. Proprietor and son are nice folks. Very nice. All-in-all, a quick trip.
Easy to find! Lavender was not fully in bloom Memorial Day weekend but still lovely to see! Tiny little Visitor Center hosted a number of products I could not leave without the Lavender Body Butter which keeps Mosquitos away! Soaps Oils Sachets etc. This was a nice diversion from all the wine tastings in the area!
This place is a little out of the way, and I can only imagine how much more wonderful it would be in full bloom. However, it was a great time.
The lavender farm, with its little buildings, fabulous gifts (had a bunch sent home to give out for birthdays and thank yous) was enjoyed by both of us. Even with the harvest completed, it's still a beautiful, tranquil little spot.........enjoyed meeting the owner and his little pup companion.
One of my favorite stops when in Los Olivos is the Clairmont Lavender Farm! Just down the road from Los Olivos Cafe, you'll wind up the gravel drive to the rustic lavender shack. In June/July, the lavender is in full bloom and is breathtaking--in all senses of the word. Lavender soaps, oils, lavender seeds, lavender lotions, you name it. Everything lavender! and lovingly made on site. Love this place!
The bushes were dormant when we arrived but there's a small store on the premises that has a large amount of lavender products to purchase - the young man in the store was not particularly friendly even though we bought several products. It would have been great to have a little information on the lavender farm - we're always interested in how things work. It's only worth it if you want to buy lavender products.
My husband & I had our engagement pictures taken here in 2011. It is a beautiful location & the owners let us have free reign there. Our photos came out great & every time I smell lavender I think of Clairmont Farms, they are the best!
I love lavender and wanted to visit a local lavender farm. Clairemont Farm is located in a beautiful area, but not much smell of lavender filled the air as many of the lavender bushes seemed to be harvested for the season. There is a small gift shop on the premise filled with all things lavender. Staff was decently friendly, but not overly so. I've been to other lavender farms and had better experiences.
We have visited twice and bought gifts for family and friends. The owners are so nice and treat you like VIP!
We loved the products they had for sale because they smelled so good and were authentic products. The honey was delicious!
The lavender was not in bloom when we visited the farm so I imagine that had a big impact on the overall setting. It was nice and pretty but I wouldn't consider it a must unless (a) the lavender is bloom or (b) you want to purchase their wonderful, high quality fresh lavender products. If that is the case, then definitely go.
