If you enjoy camping this is the perfect place.Flush toilets and hot showers, great fishing, and quiet peace await you.So close to home but when your there you feel as if you have really gotten away.

Lake Jennings has a very pleasant campground right on the edge of the lake. Campsites are shaded and there are trails right down to the lake for strolling or fishing. If you want to put a boat there are boat ramps nearby also. I like to hike along the unpaved section of the road around the lake. It makes for a quiet, peaceful level trail. If you like to travel or hike with your dog, they are allowed in the campground and on trails a certain distance above the lake, but not at lower levels, closer to the water.

Stayed at the campground during the trip to San Diego. The tent site we stayed at had plenty of space, and the other campers were very quiet. The bathrooms are adequate -- comparable to an average KOA -- though I've seen nicer. The views from the campground are also very nice, and there is plenty to do in the area. Would recommend.

3 adults 2 teens 1 child. We arrived around 2 in the afternoon and just sat and enjoyed the the beauty of the lake. We walked to lakes edge and took pictures, and walked around area around the check in station. There is a charge to go into park. The weather is wonderful and the guide was very imformantive about the area and where to fish. Next time I will definitely camp and fish. Thank you.

I grew up camping and fishing here. The campground is looking great again after the fires we had in San Diego county in 2003 & 2007.The restrooms have been updated and there is handicap/family restrooms and showers that are separate from the public restroom and shower. There are fish cleaning stations at the campground. They have hookups for moterhomes/trailers and tent camping. Firepits and some camp spaces have firepits with cooking grates on them. A nice playground for children. Catfish, trout and bass can be caught at the lake. There is a bait shop on the far side of the lake away from the camp ground. Boat rentals are available. The lake is beautiful and relaxing whether you are fishing or just there to relax and enjoy.

We are local to San Diego and had never visited Lake Jennings before and thought we should take a look and see if it would be a nice place to come back to for camping or picnicking. First we drove up to the camping area, where we were greeted by a nice woman who welcomed us and allowed us to drive through and take a look. She even gave us a map of the spaces which we used to mark spaces we though we would like to stay in. After that we drove to the other side of the lake where they have the boat ramp and a separate road to access the picnic areas spotted around the lake. There is a sign posted saying the day USE fee is $2 per person. Since we were not staying, only driving through quickly to get a feel for the place (and it was almost dark) we figured we would be able to do so without paying the fee (as we did on the camping side). The picnic sites are more than rustic. They are literally in the 2 foot tall weeds with signs all over warning about snakes. Many of the wooden tables were broken and warped. Lovely! If you need a bathroom there is a lonely port-a-potty way out there (probably home to said snakes). We got about half way around that side of the lake and stopped at a pullout to get a lay of the land, when a male ranger pulled up behind us quite fast. Apparently he had been "chasing" us since we "blew past the bait shop" (we had actually stopped at the bait shop to look and see were things were before slowly driving down the road). He treated us like criminals and was very rude. We explained we were just driving through to see if this was an appropriate place to come back to at a later date and he said it was an "admittance fee" NOT a use fee. Instead of arguing we told him we would just leave... AND NEVER COME BACK. I guess they are so poor they don't do maintenance on the property and accost anyone who tries to "look at nature without paying". What a joke. I suggest never going there with your family. Maybe when people stop coming they will learn to treat people with more courtesy.

We are tent campers that have been camping here for the last 3 years about 4 times during the summers. It is a great park with hook-ups for tents(we get those!) , full hook-ups for motor homes and non hook-up sites for those real primitive campers out there! It is kept very clean by the rangers and they do their best to keep those annoying loud campers quiet and we have seen them kick out a lot of them who don't respect the rules as well. It is a very comforting feeling knowing they are there on site 24/7 and give you a number to call anytime you have a problem. We have used them when a drunk, drugged man was ranting with his music turned up so loud you could hear it miles away after midnight. They even came down the next morning apologizing for the inconvenience and thanking us for bringing it to their attention. The next day wouldn't do any good so they were thankful. We have camped where there were 17 year old rangers who were afraid to tell people to be quiet way after quiet hours or who were nonexistent. The restrooms are kept clean providing nice showers. There is a nice playground area that is shaded for your little ones too. For a daily fee you can bring your dog, you just have to keep them leashed as expected. There is a lake there, you can rent paddle and motor boats to cruise around in or to fish in but there is no recreational use such as swimming or water sports. It is quiet and gives you that feeling of being far away but if you forget anything, Von's, Walmart, Starbucks and other fast food is 5 minutes away! Enjoy!
