This park is soo fun it's great for if you just end up staying or stopping by at nevada you can't miss out on Wild Island Family Adventure Park.
We were here recently to attend a birthday party at High Ballocity. Although we live locally, this was only our 3rd visit but we just might become regulars at this point! It had been years since our last visit and this time, our kids had sooo much fun climbing and running around through the 3-story high ballocity play structure and doing the laser maze, which is directly next to it! There is a birthday party check-in podium that's very helpful for reserved parties because otherwise, the table/seating situation is a little confusing for the unreserved tables. We noticed people tended to abandon their trash (partially full beverage cups) on the tables when they were done rather than putting it all into a receptacle and the tables weren't cleared by staff very often. The bathroom closest to the party we attended was surprisingly clean and fully stocked with soap and paper towels - that's a big plus! As we gathered our kids at the end of the party, they were going on and on about how much fun they had and how they wanted to return very soon! It really is an excellent place for kids to burn off LOTS of energy!
This water park isn't the best, but it is about all the kids in Reno have to do in the summertime, except go to the Truckee River which is very dangerous. At least at Wild Island there are life guards, etc. around in case of emergency. Teens and little kids can have a good day here on the slides big and little and there is a snack bar. You can rent innertubes to slide down the slides or float in the Lazy River.. Which is very shallow so fun for young and old alike. Make sure to take your own umbrella because shade is very scarce out there. You can not take any outside foods or beverages into the park at all. And the price is a little expensive to get in..
Soooo fun. Had a trip to Reno coming up so we googled fun things to do with kids in Reno and found Wild Island! We had a lot of fun at things that we have never got to try before. You have to try the Lazer maze, so fun. I suggest the 10 pack tickets! Best value and it is fun enough to do that many times. Do the XD theater with your kids it's fun for everyone. Great time and memories made! We are that weird family that enjoys killing zombies together!!!!! I wish their go carts were open as the day pass would have been a lot of fun and money saver but I knew from their easy to read calender that they would not be open when we were going. We will be sure to visit next time when they are open. So after about an hour and a half here we went over to need 2 speed indoor gocarts for that fun, but it was much more $ worth it though!
This place is Awesome, the kids played all day all the attractions. We decided to get season passes for the kids, great price of $49.99, and they get to do all the indoor attractions, and outside miniture golf. The great thing is they can go anytime and play again. When it gets cold outside it will be the perfect indoor activities for them to enjoy. I had fun too!!
Well overall it was definitely fun but the wave pool lifeguards arent very attentive first off we were in the wave pool and it wasn't that bad but then a lot of people with tubes started coming in and the tubes go right over your head when a wave passes especially the big ones but anyway the waves started to get bigger and bigger and a tube hit me in the head as a wave was passing so then as the tube passed I started to drown and every time I tried to get air I got more water my friend an sister were also in the pool with me and the same thing happened to my friend with the tube situation so then as I was drowning and so was she she was pulling me down trying too get air so my sister literally had to save both of us from drowning I will never get in the wave pool again unless I have a tube but the point of the story is that the lifeguards should have been paying more attention for all they know that could have been a 5 or 6 year old
Been going there for years with family and friends. Have taken little kids, big kids, adults who like to act like kids again! Great slides, a great kids area with features to keep the little ones busy. There is a great "Lazy River" which is totally relaxing. The hot tip is to go there in the afternoon...not when there is lightening. (During the summer in Reno/Sparks lightening storms are a fact of life...there is no better smell than the high desert after a thunder shower.) The crowd thins in the afternoon because everyone who arrived when they first opened is exhausted by 3:00. You have the remaining few hours to totally enjoy the park without the crowd. Be sure to take sunscreen, bring a change of clothes and bring money for snacks. They do not allow you to take food in and the snack bar is sort of expensive, so be prepared. YOU WILL GET HUNGRY. There is nothing worse that hungry, wet kids! They also have other attractions like mini-golf, go-carts, etc. Check them out on line before you go.
OK, so this is a waterpark just outside of Reno. It is hot and crowded - but that is to be expected. My kids had fun on the slides and it seemed relatively safe and clean but I was continually annoyed by a number of small things that just did not seem to be done well.I spent some time online a week before our visit booking a cabana and tickets - you add them to a cart and check out with payment. I printed out the confirmation and expected (as is the case with virtually ALL other venues/events) to be able to consequently save time and avoid the ticket lines - think again.Upon arrival I was told that I really didn't have tickets at all (yet) - I had to get in the regular ticket line...which was very long. It was made even worse by the fact that I had pre-booked a private cabana. Because of that "VIP feature" I had to get in the 'groups/cabanas' line...which put me in back of several leaders of large tours...waiting for 50+ tickets each. I literally had to stand in line for over 20 minutes just to show my pre confirmation....I then learned that for some mysterious reason they only charge you a portion online - the rest is charged in person. Why this duplicative effort? They have no idea or explanation. I was asked for my credit card again - and an ID to continue.I next had to get through a lengthy security line...and after that another lengthy raft rental line. Despite my shiny "VIP" bracelet which came with a list of "benefits" there was no front of the line access or similar. I parked at 11am with (what I thought were) pre paid tickets and a cabana - I did not actually get to my space until after noon...more than an hour in various lines. I had 3 kids with me and every single time I bought anything (numerous times) I had to show an ID (again) to use my credit card....$5 hamburger? need your ID, $6 raft rental? need your ID, $4 soda? need your ID. It bordered on harassment. I don't know about you, but as a middle aged person toting around 3 kids in a busy waterpark I don't necessarily want to carry a ton of cash - I also don't want to be asked for an ID every time I make a move by a 16 year old worker. It is insane, I can buy a $1000 TV, outfit, meal, whatever in any retail establishment you want to pick with a credit card and no ID...not here. Not anything...particularly annoying since you obviously already showed it to get in and buy your tickets (never mind the VIP wrist band I was sporting). At one point I had stood in line for 15+ minutes to buy a hungry kid a $3.50 pretzel...this kid behind the snack stand apparently noticed a name difference on my ID (the same one I had shown 10+ times already that day)...turns out the cc I had grabbed was in my maiden last name and my ID shows my married last name - first names the same. She refused to take the cc...FOR A $3.50 PRETZEL! So I had to walk all the way back to the cabana to retrieve the small amount of cash for her -- frustrating, annoying and just stupid. In a crowded, hot atmosphere this kind of issue just really hampers the experience.Another annoyance: the "VIP wristbands" are advertised specifically "to access in-park discounts." I asked about this every time I paid for something - raft rental, numerous food and drink spots and not ONE employee had any idea what I was talking about, There are no discounts as advertised. I complained about it on the way out and was told "oh - it just works at the bar - I think you get fifty cents off a drink, but just there." Really? That is pretty far off from an advertised benefit of "VIP wristbands to access in-park discounts."What this place really needs is some marketing expertise and more user friendly policies - let people buy their tickets online and use them that way, offer premium VIP services and lines, get rid of ridiculous ID policies throughout the park which serve only to annoy the patrons.
Wild Island is the only large waterpark in the Reno area. They could settle for a few skimpy rides knowing that they are the only game in town, but the folks at Wild Island go overboard to make this a great place to spend a day. New water "rides" appear almost every year. There is something for everyone here: Little Lagoon for toddlers, several waterslides from tame to exhilarating, plus a wave pool and lazy river for those that don't need the excitement. Plenty of food and drink options. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, but you can have your hand stamped to leave the park and eat the picnic lunch you left in your car. Next to the waterpark are an outdoor mini golf and 2 sizes of go-carts. Next door is the Coconut Bowl, with more indoor fun to get out of the heat or use in the winter season. WE LOVE WILD ISLAND!
So I was in the wave pool enjoying myself waiting for the waves to turn on with some friends I had never been here before so I didn't know how big the waves were.i saw the waves had turned on,being a petite girl it was hard to swim over the waves all of sudden I was forced under a wave got water in my nose and had nearly drowned, it was so bad I was yelling help and waving my arms and doing anything possible I had been able to climb up the ladder and sit there and breath, then the lifeguard blows there stupid whistle at me to moveI yelled at him for not seeing that I had almost died out there yelling for help.none of those people were doing there job I had a horrible expirence there and will NEVER RETURN
I am too old to enjoy the water slides but my grand kids get a season pass to have a safe fun place to spend their summers. The whole park is very well laid out so families can really enjoy the visit.
They offer a season pass for locals, but I don't know if they offerweekly passes, but I assume they do.
I enjoy taking my 10 and 12 year old grandkids and spending the day. I can relax and float in the lazy river and they are old enough to go off and play on all of the water slides and tubes. There are quite a variety of rides from a "eat your shorts" almost vertical slide to a water tube that shoots you down with an extra burst of water to a wave pool that really creates some monster wave action. There are multiple lifeguards posted at each water venue and they seem to be rotated quite frequently to keep a fresh eye on all in the water. The slides and tubes all require walking up multiple flights of stairs but the wave pool, lazy river and 2 shallow kids interactive pool areas seem accessible to all. Flotation devices are available for rent but really not necessary. There always seems to be extra swim tubes available at the bottom of each ride. Food is available for purchase but we just get stamped and go to the car in the parking lot for a snack and then re-enter the park. Wild Waters is a little pricey but great fun a few times in the summer.
We live just a few minutes away from this park. We frequently go there - for mini golf or bowling - during family nights year round. My kids love the water park in the summer. When visitors come from out of town, it's one of the places that we take them.
I have been here twice with boys ages 11 and 13. They loved this water park because of the variety of water slides to choose from. I agree with one reviewer about long lines but the boys didn't seem to mind at all. They also liked the fact that you can use inner tubes to ride the "river" that goes around the park. We rented a Cabana, while expensive, it does provide shade and a place for the adults to "chill out" while the kids enjoy the water park.
