This is simply the most beautiful places in the world. I have a picture on Lake Trillium that is timeless. The hike and view takes you away from your stress and thoughts. A must..
Went here on my last day in Oregon. The drive to the ski resort was breathtaking. The sun was shining, there was snow everywhere, and the view of the snow-covered mountain was amazing. I'm from Hawaii & my first time in snow was a memorable one. Definitely can't wait to come back here in December!
We just drove there to look around and we did not regret it. The view on the way to the mountain and from it are crazy beautiful.
I was there in 2013 would love to have stayed longer but then I wouldn't mind moving out that way - the river and hood river along with the parks & White Salmon wonderful area just walk around in weather is pleasant most of the time
We were able to make the trip to Mt. Hood from Hood River in the afternoon of our arrival into Hood River. The drive is beautiful and views of Mt. Hood are extraordinary. I was able to get some excellent photos. There's not much to do except the drive -- we didn't have time for hiking. But it was well worth the trip.
There's so much to do on Mt. Hood: hiking, skiing, backpacking, biking, swimming, lodging. I love it!!!
If your in to snow activities this is the place for you. Its also beautiful in the summer months. The lodge has a lot of history and if any one recalls the movie " The Shining" this was the lodge they used to shoot the movie. Great place to see and visit if your in the area.
We have visited the Mount Hood area a number of times. This time it was early September and the weather was crystal clear and warm.We enjoyed seeing Mount Hood from various perspectives from the Columbia River Gorge. The views of the mountain were awesome. With Mount Hood standing at 11,250 feet , it was also awesome to see it reflected so nicely at Trillium Lake.We visited the resort at Mt. Hood - Timberline Lodge. They have an awesome buffet lunch there with good food and yummy desserts. From Timberline Lodge, we also saw a view of other volcanic mountain towards the south.
we drove the mt hood scenic loop - spectacular drive. leaving from gresham, it was so exciting when you first see mt hood in the distance. and then it gets closer. we stopped at timberline lodge to see the mt up close and personal. wow. beautiful drive getting there, through wooded areas, bodies of water, rivers, quaint little towns, then back to gresham by way of hwy 84 along the columbia river. what could be more beautiful!
We were fortunate to be here on a relatively clear day and the views and scenert were awesome. I wish we had more time to hike because there were a lot of trails and the fresh air would have been wonderful. I look forward to a return trip where we can do some hiking.
This is a great scenic area to drive and to hike. Several places to have a picnic lunch, or you can drive up to the historic lodge that was built in the early 1900's. Worth the trip!
The trails that we hiked were serene and pretty, however we had trouble with the accuracy of the trail maps. The "ranger" stationed at an information desk in the lodge had limited information and trail maps. It was obvious she had not been out on most of the trails. One of the trails was to lead us to a waterfall, but when we reached the end of the trail there was no way to reach the waterfall. There did not seem to be a place to get good hiking information - bring your own.
This was one of the places on our list to visit when we went to Oregon. As we travelled along the road towards Mount Hood, we got some fabulous views of it. The views all around are quite breath taking and if you are fit enough, I am sure the trails around it would give you an even better perspective. We visited several of the lakes in the area, and we could see this mountain and the "3 sisters" mountains also. Oregon is a brilliant place to visit and the locals are very helpful and friendly.
Take a ride up to the Lodge at Mount Hood -- it is beautiful and the ride up is filled with eye-popping scenery. The drive is not difficult but you are up very high.
Stay at the lodge no matter what time of year. This is a really great and enjoyable area to visit. Very well done
