We are sorry that your experience with us was not in line with the majority. I am the owner who came to your table and was genuinely concerned about the food quality. I would never just automatically assume that a customer's concerns are bogus, with or without a chef's card. I was thinking out loud when I stated that our cook was very good, (meaning reputation-wise). That said, any chef, being human, can have an off order. After you left, we did inspect your leftovers and thought that the burgers may have indeed been over cooked. It was a gesture to take a meal off of your ticket but we are mostly sorry that you had a poor experience with us at all,and corrective measures have already been taken in house. My wife and I work countless hours weekly and do our best to have our people put out a top notch product.
They have recently changed their menu, and NOT for the better. They messed up on four of our orders. The so called Strawberry Lemonade had no strawberries. They refilled our drinks without asking then charged for every refill. The employees were very rude. I'm very disappointed. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants.
Our breakfast was cold when served, but that was the least of the problems. The pancakes were burnt and we had to remind the waitress twice for butter and syrup; when it finally came, even the syrup was cold, and the butter sat on top of the pancakes like a lump of fat. The kitchen staff was arguing in the kitchen so loud, you could hear them in the dining room. The sausage gravy tastes like curdled milk... too many problems to list here, really. Thought the small town mentality might be overcome by the new owners, but the wait staff was unprofessional and the food was mediocre at best. It wasn't cheap either--nearly $15 for a cup of coffee, inedible cold biscuits and gravy and rubbery, cold eggs--such a disappointment.
I've eaten at the Dexter Lake Cafe a number of times over the past xx years (I don't want to give away my age) and lunch today was the best yet. New owners, a large menu of favorites, genial service and a great cook. Mom had a blueberry pancake full of large blueberries inside and out; very fluffy. Dad and I split a club sandwich and sweet potato fries and each of us has a cup of homemade tomato bisque. Soup was well seasoned and fresh while the sandwich and fries were a hit. We will definitely be back soon!
We stopped in to the Club on the way up the mountain, just for a drink and a snack. We enjoyed talking to the owners and suggested the fish tacos when we were talking about getting something to eat. They were excellent! I can't wait to go back to try some of their other items and hear some music. Why isn't this under restaurants and bars? It's kind of an attraction but not really.
My first visit to the DLC was in the 70'S and then again in the 80'S, 90'S. I stopped by,I believe in 2006 and it was closed. I couldn't believe it! The food has alway's been great and the memories, more precious now than ever before. I live in Soldotna, Alaska and I plan to visit the club one more time in December. Thank you, for who ever took over the business and apparently has made it a success. If the walls could talk in this club the stories would be a best seller!
What a great live band, you guys rock! The food is awesome (love the sweet potato fries) with generous proportions and the staff is very friendly. Can't beat a place that treats you like family. You guys have done a great job renovating the place.
A pleasant bartender, hot barmaids GREAT MUSIC, a nice place to go, even when it"s raining buckets. Mens room needs a urinal, I"m sure it"s on their list.
Last Sunday we decided we needed to make a "roadtrip" and headed to DLC for an early afternoon lunch. The bloody mary compared to none we'd ever had: spiced just right and in a tall glass so we definately felt we got our moneys worth. We had to order the sweet potato fries since neither of us had ever had them before - and, of course, you can't have fries without a burger. The cheeseburger was so big it was served with a steak knife stuck though it to keep it from falling apart - we had to squish it down so it would fit in our mouth. I can't even find the words to describe how delicious it was (especially the sweet, red onions) and I know we'll be enjoying more DLC cheeseburgers in the future. What a fun little place for lunch, and we're looking forward to making it out one evening to enjoy a jam session. Thank you for your hospitality and keep up the good work !
Enjoyed the food, the view of the lake, and the waitress who took time to talk with us even though the place was full. After dinner went into the bar for cold drinks and super great live music, my husband and I want to come back every weekend and bring friends...kudos to the Stewarts keep up the good hard work.
The Dexter Lake Club had been a mainstay of the "night life" in the Dexter, Fall Creek, Lowell and Pleasant Hill area. Along the way and during the past 10 years, the Club had lost its sparkle and the owners/managers apparently had no idea how to effectively run a bar and restaurant. Thank Goodness, the DLC is back and running better than ever! The owners, Shannon and Greg Stewart have extensive food, beverage and music backgrounds. The renovation and decor offer a nod to "Animal House" with its zebra wall, memorabilia and the stage backdrop is definately sings "roadhouse". The result is a rocking, hopping good time for all! I have eaten there several times and the service was great and the food was awesome. Especially the prime rib dinner on NY Eve. The breakfast and burger menu is complete and with ample choices. I am assured the dinner menu will expand and be just as great. Greg is a talented musician and as such has many friends who are dedicated to the open jam sessions. The music is danceable and butt rockin! Dinner and dancing and drinkin Oh My! Not to mention the phenomenal view of Dexter Lake from the cafe!
I had the pleasure to visit the Dexter Lake Club recently and WOW, was I blown away. As soon as you walk in you feel a comfort level you only get by being around family. The food was hot and delicious and no way we left hungry, or without taking some home. When I walked in the bar to check it out I was again impressed. Warm atmosphere and friendly bar staff made me feel right at home. With live music from the house band on the weekends, this will be a place to bring friends and have a good 'ol time! I will be telling all my friends to make the short drive to Dexter to check out the Dexter Lake Club.
We have been to the DLC 4 times in the last month, grate staff , and good food. The drinks are strong and beer is cold.
Hello and thank you for your review. We apologize for your poor experience with us. We are very thankful for the great responses we have been getting and the amount of customers that have come out to support us during our first month. We were quite full this last weekend and our resources were stretched to the max. We have, and will continue to make adjustments to be sure that if you happen to try us again, your experience will be much more pleasing. Again, we thank you for your input.
My husband and I stopped here yesterday to have lunch. The portions were huge and really good. You can sit and look out at the lake while you eat. The staff was warm and helpful. I would recommend this place and we will go back when we head east again. Enjoy!!
