We did a couple of the trails around the falls and saw them from the bottom, the front and the side. There is no view of the actual falls from the top, but the side view is gorgeous. It was very quiet when we visited so we didn't feel rushed or crowded.

I will have to say I liked our stop at Latourell Falls better than Multnomah Falls! You could walk right up to the base of these falls (be smart about it though) in a beautiful gully, and see and feel the power of the falls. It was amazing! Loved this stop. Its just a short hike down a paved path, about .1 miles, to the falls.

My wife and I were visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Portland, OR in late October and we visited this spot during a day trip with them. This is a beautiful waterfall, with amazing colors on the rock walls on either side. It’s quite a hike from the parking area to the falls itself but well worth it, in my opinion. There are lots of other hiking options in this area although we just had time to walk down, enjoy the scenery, and then hike back up to our car. I highly, highly recommend visiting Latourell Falls. Check out the pictures but do go in person. I hope you found this review helpful.

The best view is from the middle of the bridge, but I will warn that the trip to the viewing area is very steep and can be a problem for folks that are not sure footed. We visited during the winter season and it was a very special view and all most NO people which made you feel like you had the place to yourself.

The reputation of this gorgeous waterfall is overshadowed by that of its more famous sibling, Multnomah Falls, but in my opinion it is still one of the two stars of the waterfall show in the Columbia River Gorge. The pictures that accompany the Tripadvisor reviews for this attraction will tell you more than words can what to expect when you visit, but to that I'll just add that if you're interested in geology, the rock face behind the falls has one of the finer displays of columnar basalt you're going to find on a trip along the gorge.

Latourell Falls is an amazing waterfall with a 249' (76m) sheer vettical drop, located within 30 minutes of Portland and PDX airport. There is a great view of the waterfall from the parking area along Historic Columbia River Highway, and there are trails leading directly to the base (a 5 minute walk) and the top (a 15 minute walk).Latourell Falls is well worth the stop if you are heading to Bridal Veil Falls or Multnomah Falls.

If you want amazing views of falls come here! You can drive through and stop here and there or you can bring your gear and choose a stop to hike up to. I saw groups biking thru to camp, or just a good ride. Beautiful!

We enjoyed visiting Guy Talbot State Park and seeing the beautiful Latourell Falls. The unique feature of this falls is that it drops straight down from an overhanging basalt cliff.

This was a special falls, even though on a Sunday, I had to struggle to find a parking spot in order to view it. You can see this falls right off of the main drag near the parking lot or you can hike 2.4 miles on a moderate incline (520 ft elevation change) to the top of it and watch it from above, which is fabulous. There was a nice concrete bridge nearby which was also fun to observe, as it was constructed in 1914. There was also a path to go to the base of the falls which I will try next time.Latourell Falls itself is a huge stream of blue green water from high above and is one of the higher ones. To correct another reviewer, there are 77 large waterfalls on this route along the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area (the largest designated National Scenic area in the US), some off the road and some a hike off of the road. This one is one of the closest to Portland, so it one of the more popular ones. The best thing about hopping from falls to falls along this Columbia River Gorge route, it that it is free and like no other scenery in the world. Just find a way to do it on a weekday.

We departed the Vista House to head on over to Multnomah falls. If I hadn't noticed the small sign and parking area, we would have totally missed these falls! Since it was still early in the morning, there were very few people around. We started walking up the path to the left of the signs and such to the small viewing area which, though short, was pretty steep. We decided against going the rest of the way up since we weren't quite prepared to do a lot of hiking. We took the lower path to the falls, and I am very happy we did, because it brought us to the bottom of the falls and a great view! We were enthralled. We finally forced ourselves away and decided to follow the path around. If you plan on hiking in this area, make sure you have a map, GPS, or something because the trails divide and I was not able to identify marking/signs anywhere to help you if you were lost. I'm glad I have a good sense of direction and was able to get us back to the vehicle with no problems.

This was a tour stop. The falls were amazing. This is a stop you cannot miss. It's worth the drive from Portland. We are from Texas so getting to see the scenery on the way was special.

This is on the scenic highway route to Multnomah Falls along the Historic Columbia River Highway. There are approximately 7 falls on this highway . All of them are unique and must go. Usually Multnomah is crowded due to the popularity. My preference would be Bridal Veil and Latourell falls. They are pleasant less crowded and can walk up to the falls. Worth the stop and visit.

Nice falls not too far off of Highway 30. Pace yourself on the return walk as a bit of it is kinda steep.....well it was for a flatlander like me. :)

If you are traveling along Highway 30, it is worth stopping here to see the falls. However I think the better experience is the few hiking opportunities that are available - they provide a bigger reward when you come up on the falls after a hike from Latourell.

There's the high view and the low view. We took the low view. Easy access and a very pretty place. If you're into pretty places and waterfalls, stop here and enjoy.
