This is a meticulously maintained, historical space of which every Cleveland native should be immensely proud. You can take a hike, see a chapel with an interior of Tiffany glass, visit the final resting places of historical figures including President Garfield, Rockefeller, Elliot Ness and numerous others, and take in the grand view for which the cemetery was named. After you spend a few hours exploring you can take in lunch or dinner in Little Italy situated adjacent to the cemetery.

After lunch in the nearby neighborhood called Little Italy, we drove up the hill and entered the cemetery from the Mayfield Road gate. This is the most beautiful cemetery in the county and maybe in the whole country. Just driving through here gives you a feeling of peace and serenity. There are many beautiful places to stop and marvel at the beauty. In good weather, they encourage picnics on the grounds and you will see many families here enjoying the cemetery, not as a place of gloom and death, but as a place to celebrate life. If you do a little research ahead of time, you can visit the gravesites of many famous Clevelanders.

Cemeteries aren't usually on a city's top attractions list, but Lake View is too beautiful and historic not to be. Besides being the final resting place for President James Garfield, industrialist John D. Rockefeller and legendary G-Man Eliot Ness, the near-150-year-old graveyard adjacent to University Circle is a park, arboretum and sculpture garden all in one.

This is a historic stop worth taking if you are walking around downtown. It has the founders of the city buried there with some background info. My son thought it was really cool to see and read the history.

One of the most beautiful areas of Cleveland, with incredible landscaping and unique trees. There are weekly tours, bus trips, and art exhibits. Check their website and calendar www.lakeviewcemetery.com. See Daffodil Hill in full bloom (100K bulbs), and book a wedding at Wade Chapel (with Tiffany windows). As my dad said, it's one place you lay at rest and LIFE keeps going on!

I recommend you drive through this cemetary. It has some interesting mosoleums. We actually went on a snowy day. Cemeteries are interesting to see.

I've been here a few times and it is always beautiful. There are several sites definitely worth seeing- the Garfield Monument, the Rockefeller monument, the Haserot angel, the Eliot Ness memorial, and the Wade Chapel are the most famous ones, but everywhere you look there are beautiful monuments and memorials. There are knowledgable guides at both the Garfield Monument and the Wade Chapel. Definitely stick around to listen to the tour at the chapel, very interesting!

Sign up for their trolley tour or you can go on a self guided with dvd version. I always bring out of town visitors here. It is a beautiful cemetery with many historic families buried here along with the James A. Garfield mausoleum. Not your ordinary cemetery, more like Central Park with graves.

I have visited many old cemeteries over the years, including some very ancient 'settler' sites, and from my first visit to Lake View, when I was a youngster, to my latest visit last summer, it is very clear that Lake View is my second-most favorite cemetery. (Behind only Arlington National).Lake View Cemetery has such a huge diversity of gravestones and memorials, that every known style of work can be found. President Garfield's memorial is outstanding, and the Rockefeller sites are extremely noteworthy. The views of Lake Erie and Downtown Cleveland are gorgeous too!If you are in to visiting cemeteries, don't miss Lake View. The cemetery is located at the top of Murray Hill, overlooking Cleveland's Little Italy area, which has a wonderful array of restaurants. Spending a day, or a few hours, in this wonderful area will be well worth the time!

We visit Lake View several times a year and always see something new. If you are looking for art or for history, it is here. From celebrities to everyman, the many ways of commemorating the dead are on display and some, particularly St. Gaudens' statue on the Hay gravesite are true works of art.

If you're into a more macabre tourist attraction this is the place to go. It can take a whole afternoon if you let it because it seems to just keep going and going. Garfield's memorial is particularly interesting and the gentleman that runs it was very knowledgeable about the entire cemetery. It can be a little confusing driving around and we ended up driving around in circles but it's very beautiful and peaceful if you're looking for something different to do.

This cemetery is relatively large and can be a bit confusing to navigate. However, the place is perfect for someone looking for fresh air, peace and quiet, a picnic etc. Definitely not a spooky cemetery.

Garfields tomb is a wonderful piece of architecture with a fabulous view from the top and the Wade (Tiffany) Chapel is fabulous beyond words. Visit during open hours to see inside both. The gardens and other tombs and grave markers are all works of art.

What a beautiful Cemetary. It is ironic how calming such a stressful place could be. If you get free time, spend it strolling this iconic place. Try to find the oldest tombstone and in doing so you will visit the graves of many famous people from actors to presidents and more. Clevelands who's who of graves.

Great must see, be careful because getting there is kind of through the hood and kind of around it all is the hood. Once you're there however you'll be Ok. Don't however, get lost in the neighborhoods around there.Ok, sorry about all that lead in,Once inside great things to see like many of the Rockefellor family and many others who were famous and contributed to Cleveland and northeast Ohio. The Garfield memorial is wonderful, but also make sure you make it to the Wade Chapel. Suggest you being an IPad and be interactive about the visit looking up these people to learn about them. I must tell you we were there on a weekend and the staff were just wonderful, especially in the Garfield memorial, very passionate about their jobs and knew their material.
