A beautiful wooded area (with pathways), a small wildlife center, a sometimes operating small gauge train and informative visitors center make this a worthwhile stop. The pathways are wheelchair compatible. If you can visit during one of their celebrations, it is even more fun. See their website for details.
This place is beautiful. They have day camps in the summer and their wildlife center is awesome. The train rides are worth doing.
This park offers enjoyable family fun events for people of all ages. Not the biggest or fanciest of the metroparks but it is relaxing and scenic. It is a very natural environment and they do take in abandoned or injured wild animals. We have taken birds and a baby rabbit to be cared for.
This metropark is busy with various activities throughout the year. It has very good wildlife center, visitor center, train station (only operational occasionally) plus hiking trails. One of the trails leads down to a small waterfall. Worth repeated visits.
Yes, you can hike here, but there is so much more! There is the Wildlife Center where you can see rehabilitated or in-rehabilitation local wildlife, ponds where you can fish, an amazing gorge you can enjoy on scheduled hikes, a local miniature train group that schedules free rides, a shop with all sorts of nature-related supplies...... and I could go on! Pick up a schedule of events for not only this park, but all of the properties within Lake MetroParks, chat with a naturalists at the desk, view an exhibit on the history of the site (originally owned by the Halle family)..... Okay, I'll stop now. Now you need to visit!
This is a great park for a hike as well as a wonderful place to learn about the local wildlife in the area. They run an outstanding rehab center which has saved many animals. The inside of the main park building has many interesting nature displays as well as a great viewing area for wild birds that are feeding.Be sure to check with this park or their website to learn about all their programs.
Once the summer get away for the famous Halle family, this park has a nature center and trails for people and horse riders. Ponds and a rugged valley "gorge" trail gives a great work out. Some hikes are with guides. Snow shoe hikes weather permitting.
This is a wonderful example of the way a park should be presented and kept. It is well laid out, well maintained and has a little bit of something for everyone.
Beautiful gorge. Great hiking trails. Free. Interesting nature center. Animal rescue hospital. Animals who can not be released back into the wild have permanent homes here. Offer programs for the entire family. Great summer camp program.
The park has a number of hiking trails. The gorge is great but does involve a lot of steps. The pond has turtles and frog/toads almost always visible - great for kids. The nature center has a few animals to view. All for free!
Such an unassuming park from the entrance. There are mini falls, a dock extended out onto a big pond you can go on, pretty decent hills about 4-5 miles of trails. Great for scenery, pictures, treks picnics, beautiful covered areas for bigger parties and a mini train! I love it and walk there as much as I can! Highly recommend!
Very Beautiful Park. It's a wonderful place to take children. Lots of nice paths and hiking trails. The animal rehab center is very interesting as is the mini railroad. Highly recommend to anyone.
Wonderful guided hike thru the Gorge. Great group of guides and attendees and wonderful hot soup after hike.
Walking or running around here is a treat. There's a variety of trails that are shaded, sunny, hilly or flat. Especially like hiking up from Kirtland City Center along the stream and up and down the ravines.
They had a very extensive and beautiful exhibit. From clothing to much more memorabilia from 50's and 60's era.
