We found this place on Google and drove off to visit it. It is like an Aladdin's Cave as it is so much bigger inside than outside. It stands by the river and offers free parking. You have to go outside and down to the lower level under the shop to see how the maple syrup is made and there is also a pair of rocking chairs outside on the veranda as you go into the shop that of course we just had to sit in and take each others photo lol?We bought our maple syrup and many other small presents here so it is well worth a visit. If you buy nothing else you have to try their maple syrup ice cream Awesome!Thank you for reading this John & Sue Webb Eastbourne UK.
Stopped by the Green Mountain Sugar House on our way out of town. Most of their gift items can be seen in other shops in the area. What sets them apart are the plethora of maple products and the knowledgeable, helpful staff. We enjoyed a few samples of the syrup, too. Didn't try the famed Maple Cremee, but there's always next time!
We stopped at quite a few places while up in Vermont last weekend I think Green Mountain Sugar House had the most reasonable prices and fresh maple sugar candy. The staff was friendly and not pushy. I got just what I was looking for and had some delicious maple creme. Whoa, that stuff was very good! I would go back again.
We stopped in first thing in the morning when staying in Ludlow. I got a maple creamie that was delightful and it became the running joke of the trip that I thought it was a good idea to start the day off with ice cream! Great shop in a great location not far from Okemo!
All items are made on premises at this family owned uniquefacility. It offers four grades of pure 100% maple syrup, plus maple cream, sweet maple treats and maple nut brittle. Sold only at their own gift shop but also shipped from their catolog.
Excellent maple soft serve ice cream. My wife and also loved the maple candy and syrup. Excellent service we were given samples of their syrup and explanations on the variety of grades. Prices also seemed reasonable.
Every time I come to VT, I try to find granulated maple sugar. I'm normally unsuccessful.. until I Googled it and found this place. No disappointments there! Will definitely be back on my next trip.
As you are driving on Rte 100, you cannot pass the Green Mountain Sugar House. The wonderful folks who have been there for so many years welcome you with friendly smiles and the best soft ice cream any place--the maple cremee. Made with their own maple syrup, it is a true treat. Sitting on an adirondack chair overlooking Lake Pauline makes a perfect setting for this experience. Now they even have a maple cremee milkshake!!! I have been ordering maple syrup from them for over twenty five years. I never miss a stop when I leave FL for VT.
We took the grandkids for a morning discovery trip ..that was their favorite . The had maple sugar ice cream , shopped for a special souvenir ..mainly, the lady that greeted us was charming and helpful . We also sat by the pond and looked for fish !
You must stop here if you are in the area to try a Maple cremee! It is the BEST and not pricy by any means! They also have a shop with a lot more goodies to purchase but I wouldn't pass by this place without stopping. Best maple cremee I've ever had :)
They sell all things maple but the best is the soft serve maple cremee. My entire family is obsessed with it and we can't go by without getting a cone, even in the winter. They also have a nice selection of other Vermont made cheese, beer and other products. Just tried the Crowley Mufaletta cheese which was amazing.
None of that Aunt Jemima, Vermont Maid, Log Cabin maple syrup-like product! You want to eat your pancakes and waffles with ONLY the real thing. Once you get accustomed to real Vermont Maple Syrup, there is no going back to liquid dreck. These folks mail the maple syrup to you, $48 for a half gallon. So not cheap! You can save a lot of money next time you're in VT by buying your maple syrup at a farmer's house. But I figure that from Georgia it will cost me a few hundred dollars to make this run. Sooooo…dirt cheap at $48!
Stopped in here several years ago on a summer trip to Vermont and tried the maple soft ice cream. My wife and daughter had wanted to keep on going and gave me a hard time for stopping but being the driver, I had the last vote. :-) So I stopped for the ice cream - they didn't want one at first, but after tasting mine, we ended up each getting out own. That was the first of many visits to the Green Mountain Sugar House! Since then this has been my "go to" place for maple syrup, and every time we are back in Vermont we make it a point to stop.We were there yesterday (to get more syrup) and although I've purchased syrup in the past (its great on oatmeal), I'd never paid attention to the grades. The woman at the counter (very pleasant!) explained to me the differences and what the best uses of each grade was, and then we did shots of syrup. I recommend the Grade A Dark for oatmeal. :-)Besides the syrup, they have many other specialty food items you may not find somewhere else, as well as many keepsakes and Vermont items. I've found their prices to be very reasonable. So bottom line is, been there, done that, and will be back!
This is a GREAT local sugar house that sells all grades of excellent maple sugar and maple products...harvested, boiled, created and packaged themselves. They have a very wide selection of Vermont products/gifts as well which are very reasonably priced. To die for is their home made maple creamy!!!! The people that work there are very friendly and very helpful too.Located right on Vermont Rte 100 along side Lake Pauline, you can enjoy your creamy in a number of Adirondack chairs by the water or just plain enjoy the beautiful view all year round.
The name says it all - this is the best place - very friendly staff. We bought a ton of maple syrup has gift giving for our friends and family. Even found freshly made pumpkin butter and strawberry rhubarb spread. The prices are much better in comparison to the village stores you will find in Weston, and you can even take a look at their machinery in the back.
