My family was very excited to spend the day at the dog park and use the facilities. The large dog park was all sand and mud with dog feces everywhere. Very little grassy areas . Multiple pitt bulls and other aggressive dogs, most of the dogs did not have tags. The dog owners communicated it was just dogs playing. Dogs knocking down and growling at each other. My children were scared and I was told the dog park is not a place for kids. I am a home owner in Ormond by the sea and unable to utilize the dog park for my med size dog. I do not know what the solution is but something needs to be done
Not only can you get free beach parking you can also find tons of things to do. This is a great place to play tennis and work on batting practice. There are a couple of nature trails and a great place to have a picnic with the best view in town. The Best part is the park has a great dog park. One side for small dogs and one side for large ones. These are huge areas the dogs have plenty of room to run. They have water stations on each end and I hear they are building shaded areas for the dog parents. My Boston Terrier gives it a big thumbs up!
Love this park especially for Large dogs - camped at Tomoka and they don't offer play area for dogs so this is a great alternative not far - Only issue I found is irresponsible humans that don't pick up after their pets even though the park provides bags- how lazy can people be?
Our favorite go to day trip at the beach on the Atlantic coast. This beach is clean, not crowded, and has covered picnic shelters, showers, and bathroom facilities above the highway on the inland side of Rte A1A. There are also grills, ball and tennis facilities and dog parks. Clean, clean, clean, as well as low key and relaxing!
Multiple use area, includes a dog park, tennis courts and ball fields, as well as facilities for cooking out, picnicking and lying on the beach. These Southerners sure like their parks and protect them by keeping them clean.
Perfect picnic spot. Besides our group, there were only about 5 other people on the beach. Picnic tables, showers, and bathrooms were there, and seemed to be at a more relaxed pace than both Ormond and Daytona.
The "front" of the park has parking & restrooms - and a cross walk (to walk across) Al-A to the beach. Drive to the 'rear' of the park for ball fields, racketball & basketball courts and the dog park - has 2 separate areas (big vs small - 20 lbs and under). Gentle rolling 'hills' and live oaks with benches; dog water fountains. Well maintained - best we've been to. Loved that our pups had a place to run unleashed! Also, there is a trail that connects the front of the park (begins behind the restrooms) with the back part of the park (leads to the dog park) . You walk on wide, bark chipped and easy hills on this short trail.
2 Great dog parks on site- one for small dogs, one for large dogs. Handball court, basketball court, plenty of parking and a baseball field. Clean restrooms, a covered eating area and a playground for the kids. Oh, and tennis courts! The playground is not shaded, so it gets a "very good" rating. There is also 2 nature trails that are quite fun; the uphill/downhill is unexpected and makes the walk more challenging. The ocean is right across the street!
This park as well as most of the parks in the area is well maintained, clean, and enjoyable to visit. There are clean restrooms, a water fountain, a foot-washing station, picnic tables, and pavillions to use. Please help keep our parks clean so that all may enjoy them.
Rented a house about 3 blocks away. Walked the dog regularly... dog parks (2 of them!) are clean and spacious and equipped with clean-up supplies and doggie water fountains.Several very nice tennis courts available. At the other end of the park (connected by shady forest paths) is a very nice fishing dock and kayak/canoe launching area.
I have watched this park change over the years... and it has only gotten better with time. It is large with a variety of activities. The tennis courts always seem to have space, and are fairly well kept. There is a block wall for hitting against as well. The dog parks are nice additions, and are popular. Open field space, playground, baseball diamond, covered picnic tables, hiking trail, river access, beach access.... it s a great space for family or company get togethers too!
We were camping and needed a beach so it was recommended to go here. Free parking across the street from a nice beach. Life guards on duty what seemed to be 10am to 5:30pm. It's only a two lane road so crossing was easy with all our beach stuff in tow. Bathrooms available off the parking lot. On Memorial Day, the lot filled up early. Great beach with good boogie board rides although there was wind and a strong current the days we were there. It was not crowded and there were no cars allowed on the beach this far North. Great time! Red sandy beach. Best yet, not surrounded by condos!
I go there to play tennis. The courts are well maintained and never busy. There is a huge field for sports like soccer or baseball, dog park, basketball court, playground, and picnic shelter. I have never seen transient people hanging around. Lots of families visit.
