This is one of my favorite "museums" in South Florida and I say this as a local resident. I have been dozens of times and still enjoy the quiet loveliness of this piece of old Florida charm. I try to visit at least once a year, along with Viscaya and Fairchild's Tropical Gardens!!

If going plan on going early and spending a few hours there. You can do the house tour and or the grounds tour. Went last year and all the house tours were done for the day and so we went just did the grounds. This year we did the house tour . We had to leave early because there was a wedding happening at 5 so they didn't have anymore ground tour time. So I would call for anything that might come up. Well worth it though!

We were fortunate enough to find this intriguing Landmark house that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We arrived here by Water Taxi (Stop # 9), then walked over the bridge to find it.We took the Guided Tour for $20 each -- courtesy of Daniel Schwartz who was fantastic. He was a dedicated Tour Guide, passionate and knowledgeable about the House and its fascinating history. The Artworks, Murals and other collections are lovely, and are maintained in as pristine a condition as possible.Andrea Larson -- our Tram Driver also gave us a lot of tidbits of information about the relaxing and impressive grounds -- the gardens, the flowers, the squirrel monkeys, and the wildlife found here -- the Swans, birds, iguanas, lizards -- and plenty of "Shell" art. This is a "Must-See" hidden jewel in Fort Lauderdale if you have a few hours to spare. All the volunteers on the grounds are sweet. We had some really nice interactions with Barbara Davis and Chevaune Morris.Definitely take the guided tour and the Tram ride. Both are absolutely worth it. They also have Senior or AAA discounts.

The one-hour tour around Bonnet House was totally fascinating. There is also a 20-minute tour of the gardens ($2.00 fee)The only negative thing that I might mention is that the signage for the entrance to the grounds is difficult to spot. After the House/Grounds tour, be sure to check-out the unique gift shop!I was thoroughly enchanted with this tour.

A very interesting tour, the lady giving the tour was very informative, and funny. Lovely grounds to walk and then at the end of tour go out south exit and go to the beach.

Great presentation; the house is amazing and has stood many years through storms and harsh salty winds; great history, cute property and they have all kinds of artsy and food events.

It was very interesting to hear about the history of Bonnet House and Gardens. The guide was excellent.

Bartlett was the artist who designed and built the home. Bradley's third wife , Evelyn donated the home to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. The home looks much like it was in the 1940's. This is what makes it interesting along with the paintings and architectural details by Bartlett. Our guide was knowledgeable and readily answered questions. It is fascinating to experience this home. For an extra $2, you can take a short ride on a golf cart while another guide shares more information about the 35 acre estate right in Ft. Lauderdale. If you enjoy houses and history, you need to visit Bonnet House.

Beautiful gardens, with cormorants, iguanas, swans, buzzards and monkeys! Calm mirror lakes and tropical planets. The house is nice but don't expect European culture and art, it has its place though. Say Hi to Buddy the parrot and hold onto your sunglasses!

We had a little time to spare before we could check into our hotel, so we opted to tour the Bonnet House. It was an interesting home, filled with art. I always enjoy art even if it is not my style (which this was not). Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, giving us the history of the home and the people who lived there. With our AAA discount, we paid $18 per person for the tour of the home only. I believe there was an optional golf cart tour of the gardens, which we choose not to take.

I had been to High Taylor Birch State Park many times but loved finding out who he was and what his connection to the Bonnet House was. Wonderful tour. Very unexpected little piece of paradise right in the middle of a big city. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about south Florida in the early part of its development. Absolutely gorgeous orchid house on the grounds.

If you're into history you will 'not' want to miss this tour. It was most educational and interesting.

Really interesting story behind the Bonnet House. The setting is not only very lovely but also the only non developed section of land on the beach. For a magical evening, take in a "concert under the stars". The guides are terrific, the art fabulous. You'll enjoy seeing what Fort Lauderdale beach looked like before the hotels ......
