This park has many hidden treasures to explore many people do not realize it. Park and walk it, it is the only way to see it.

IF you want to get away for the day cheap, pack a lunch box and grab a chair and head to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. It's just a nice place to go away from the hustle and bustle.

This is such a wonderful state park. It opens at 8 and closes(while we were there) at 6:15. You can park all day for a nominal charge;get your exercise in...walk, bike, roller blade......then beach it.(You can walk under A1A from the park. You can rent a kayak, canoes, bikes, and even segues. There is an area right on the inter-coastal where you can b-b-q. It is just a terrific spot.

I decided to take part in the nature guided tour with the local ranger their and really loved the entire experience! I did make the mistake in going in a swim suit cover-up and had a few run ins with mosquitos and other bugs, but then again... i was asking for it. The ranger was relaxed and very knowledgeable. There were these little cherries growing wild that he told us to eat while we walked through the beautiful trees... Really neat to see the wild side of south Florida and to learn about the history of the early settlers of this area.

Like many state parks across the country, this one is a good spot to have a picnic, toss a frisbee, or go for a short, shaded walk. Only $6 per car load. There are grills, picnic spots, and playgrounds throughout. I didn't realize the definition of a hammock was akin to a tropical timberland and you can walk through a small underbrush area to see what the whole Ft. Lauderdale area looked like at one time. Our group got bored rather quickly because we would rather walk on the beach or the sidewalks near the beach. It was an interesting stop on our 3rd trip to the area.

Very nice grounds and good place to get away from all the congestion and noise of Ft Lauderdale Beach

I love this park. The rangers there were so friendly. I saw gopher turtles, vultures circling overhead, amazing trees, unusual insects, and those little lizards that rush away so fast you only hear them. The scent of the air there is wonderful. I just loved seeing the natural environment of this part of Florida. Taking the 2+ mile walk was a very rejuvenating experience. So glad I was there.

A great park near the Atlantic that has trails (some paved), a waterway, tropical hardwood hammock. Wildlife: Squirrels, rats, snakes , lots of birds, turtles, foxes. Yes, gray foxes. These bushy tailed predators have been missing since a wave of distemper swept through the raccoon population, followed by Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Great to see Foxes returning.

This is really a great find. Just off the A1A and across from the Bonnet House. There is a 2 (?) mile wide paved trail around - cars, bikes, segways, walk/jog - whatever. Looked like you could use or rent kayaks and canoes. Also a strip of picnic tables to lunch by the intercoastal. We did not see any wildlife, but we did not use the trails. We rented a tandem bike and rode around the loop. There is also a tunnel under the A1A to the beach so you really could spend your whole day here!

There are gopher turtles and the last tropical hardwood hammock area in the state. If you are running along the beach take a little detour through here. Park Ranger Keith is the best ever.

I started by a drive around the loop of the park as suggested by the host; my only complaint of the park is they need a walker/runner bike lane. The speed limit is 15 and I spent more time behind people walking 3-4 across as well as women that did not have control of their bikes. The road is narrow, difficult getting around people that are not paying attention with their head down to their phones.I waked the beach first, then the 2 mile trail; all great but I would not do the trail in the summer. I was there on a cool day and it was perfect, can't imagine the trail on a hot day ( no breeze, humid).Sat on the benches and watched the boats go by on the intercostal; best of both worlds with the beach so close by to walk as well.I now need a nap lol!

The A1A marathon runs through this park. It's a great park with paved trails. Along a waterway - beautiful trees.

For those of you who like to picnic, this is a fun place to do it. You can bring your car, walk or bike into the park. It also has a connection to Ft Lauderdale beach. On one side is the intracoastal and you can watch all of the boats go by.

Beautiful park with picnic areas along inter-coastal. Great parking area for beach , and kayak and other rentals available as well. Well worth a visit.
