Played in Feb 2014 In great shape. Not there best but not there most expensive. Had good time. Would do again. Whole complex with 3-18's is nice. Good pro shop and Bar Rest. Tee it up.
Made a mistake saying Wanamaker was the easiest (it's #2 here), the Ryder is the more typical Resort Course !!!!Very well conditioned. Greensconsistent with the other 2 courses, fast & well conditioned. Generous off the tee, flatter Greens. The Dye is the toughest challenge here, the Ryder is the easiest of the 3.Amazing wings in the clubhouse
Well-maintained, interesting and playable. Nice personnel working there. Good service, clubs ready, water, ice on the cart every morning.
Fun course to play and hone your golf game. Course would work fine for the expert and the duffer. It is also quite women friendly. Starters and other support staff and quite helpful and keep the pace of play moving.
In the past a wonderful place to play golf. Three Terrific Golf Courses combined with the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance made this a great place for Golf. However prices and policies were recently revamped doing away with twilight rates and nine hole rates . Bigger prices hikes are coming in December ($150 rounds) The learning center ( a golf range) is $30 for entry to hit balls This has put the place out of reach for ordinary folks and driving away local customers. A shame but there are many less costly alternatives in the area and tourists should seek to avoid being gouged. Too bad the PGA of America is more interested in profit . Their website states that their mission is "promoting the game of golf to everyone, everywhere". That does not seem to be the case anymore. A shame. Hopefully they will reconsider.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback regarding your golfing experience with us here at PGA Golf Club. It is always of great importance and a useful measurement tool for the entire management team at our club to receive communication and feedback on our operation. Whether it is constructive or generous, it allows us the opportunity to look at our services, step back from our daily routine and take any corrective action necessary to make certain that any incident of this nature does not happen again. Please contact me at Jwiernasz@pgahq.com, or 772-467-1300 Ext.123, as I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with further about your experience with us.Sincerely,Jeremy WiernaszDirector of Golf OperationsPGA Golf Club
Great, well maintained course. Very friendly to the average golfer. Stayed at PGA Village Sheraton and received 20% off, only cost $43 with unlimited range balls. Great deal!!!
The people got me out on the course in record time. (I was a single, walk on) They paired me up with 3 great guys. All high handicappers like me. The course was in excellent shape. The bunkers ate me alive, but I only loss 3 balls which is great for me. This the first course I've played where my golf shoes were cleaner after I played than before! The personal were courteous and helpful. The day was perfect. Made me wish I was a scratch golfer. I hope to play again later this week.
The PGA's superintendent has been working on making the Ryder course more user friendly by replacing Palmetto groves with waste areas and removing a number of bunkers. The result will be a more friendly environment that will speed play. Ryder is second to the Wannamaker as our favorite course in the four course lineup.
Always a top course and facility, but pricey durning season, simply First Class for this area as most courses dont compare!
High quality, picturesque Florida golf course. Chalanging in some places, forgiving in others. This is the old North course at PGA Village. It was renamed a few years ago. If you love golf, this is a must play. Both the enthusiast and professional will enjoy the risk vs. reward nature of the layout.
This is the same review I posted for the PGA Wanamaker Course at this location. Reason? Courses right next to each other. Maintained by same management.Great layout. Super condition from tee to green. At start of my stay top-dressing of greens was peformed. No indication that this was planned either on website, when reservations were made, or while checking in to play. I putted on greens covered with white sand for the 4 days of my trip. Disingenuous!$120 green fee was not reduced due to unannounced maintenance. Doesn't seem appropriate to me to perform this maintenance at peak of winter season in Florida and is fair to potential customers. Actually I find this situation to be very commmon in Florida and not in the Northeast. I'm just very sad that the PGA, who owns this course, would stoop to such practices. The PGA prides itself on integrity and as custodians of the game. Since a PGA professional is on staff at almost all courses in Florida, I guess its not a surprise that this experience is so common there.I'd play this course again but not before checking out the conditions in-person or via reliable word of mouth.
This course was a little more open than the Wannamaker course. Generous fairways. Long Par 3 holes though.
The ryder course at PGA village is my favorite of the 3 courses. It is always in great shape and the greens roll true. The course has some elevation changes as well as water hazards that is typical with Florida golf. It is challenging, but there is an opportunity to shoot a low round even for mid handicappers. Price is high in winter, but afternoon rounds in the off season are reasonably priced.
Very typical Florida type of course. Good GPS system and amenities. Course shape was good. But the thing is that this course doesn't live up to 80$ green fee and compare to other two courses. I rather play Dye or Wanamaker.
