We visited while a school was in session and there were many students learning makeup across from clowns of all stripes and polka dots. Very welcoming and friendly. Photos encouraged. Lots of clown figurines to see and some to buy. Also lots of wonderful clown art on the walls.
Lovely, and sweet people who genuinely want to make visitors smile! Definitely worth visiting- get clown cultured! :)
Made a stop in Lake Placid for the murals and found this little gem. We stayed for the video of the history of Toby and the museum. I enjoyed listening to the video as we toured around the room checking out all the memorabilia. It is quaint and cute and very informative. The people who work there enjoy being there and the video of Toby shows just what a happy person he is.Lots to see and it's free. Be sure to check it out and take a walking tour of the area to see all the great murals and the tower.
This small Museum is free to everyone and they are pleased to have everyone stop in when in the area. The tour includes a short video presentation and then some identification of many of the clown memorabilia that is present in the building. The two gentlemen that gave the tour were very friendly and obviously happy to have visitors and to learn a little about their volunteer work as clowns. This is also a Clown School and a couple of classes are given each year. The entire operation is non-profit and I would hope that you would at least give a small donation to help these people put smiles on many sick children and those less fortunate. Please call or check on hours for the museum as they rely strictly on volunteers and work with their availability. Have fun !
