The owner is rude and not pleasant to deal with. Over $800 to get married on the lawn when he is already charging you over $3000 to rent the building. I would think at this rate, you would get the whole place, but you dont. I have called around, and this is one of the most expensive venues there is around with no more offerings. Sullivan's in Hamilton is much cheaper, and they are pleasant to deal with. On the wine side: the cheese and meat prices are also very high for the amount you get. The wine isnt great, Ursa winery is much better and a more elegant place to visit.

Entering the building it smelled like something had died. Later in the evening I went to try the sangria only to find out I was overcharged. I refused to buy anything from them from there on out. Sitting for evening dinner, my plate was cleared before I could even get a chance to finish. I will never go back even if I was paid to go. I did have a much more enjoyable time at Chicks in Macomb Illinois. Try their lips they are pretty good.

Lake Hill Winery & Banquet Hall is a great place to spend a few quiet hours reading some afternoons, or to attend a wide variety of entertainment offered throughout the year. It is situated on the west bank of the Carthage Lake with woods, water or vineyards on 3+ sides. Besides a wide variety of their own wine, Lake Hill Winery offers a bar and 2 rooms to host gatherings of various sizes.
