大峡谷国家公园正好免门票,非常幸运。科罗拉多河冲刷下,形成了特殊的地貌,荒凉而壮阔,岩石在夕阳的照射下,反射出血红的光芒,让人如痴如醉。
See and touch the colorado river were the best! the freezing water, hear his powerful sound were amazing!!!!
Most people will only see the rim views, but if you are semi fit make the time and go for a walk. We walked to the bottom and spent the night and the journey was incredible. Breathe taking views along the way made the journey feel easy. The route was surprisingly gentle and had been designed well
The entire Grand Canyon experience is amazing if you take the time to hike a trail or go beyond a few minutes viewing it behind the Visitor's Center. The canyon is an incredible place that one could spend days or weeks touring. Definitely take your time, drive yourself and get out on some trails. You won't regret it!!!
Fabulous. Beautiful cotton trees and phantom ranch close by to enjoyn a beer after a long hike down. A wonderful experience, beautiful night sky.
A definite bucket list activity, you do need to be trail fit but it is so worth it. Looking down the canyon from the silver bridge is a place where you certainly recharge the batteries for the soul.
Seeing the canyon from inside looking up is an unusual and amazing way to view this structure. The colors of everything seem to change - from the trees (they're greener!) to the rocks, to the ground cover. There are also some fauna to see, like some deer and other animals. The hike down is challenging, and to get down to the main plateau is a 4.5 mile trip each way (so 9 miles minimum), with about 3000 feet of elevation gain on the way back, and it's significantly hotter at the bottom (20-30 degrees F hotter). If you're an experienced hiker, try to hike down at least to the plateau area, maybe a mile or so further, and soak in this beautiful canyon from a perspective that most don't ever see.
Saw this on the mule trip. Had never even seen pictures of this before. Oh Jesus corner, hells furnace! Wow! Unbelievable views. Probably three and a half hours from top of trail. I'll never forget this.
The hike into and out of the inner canyon is only done by <1% of visitors to the canyon. While the view from the rim is obviously an experience in itself. The walk into the canyon and views and serenity and wildlife cannot be described. As others on this site have stated - do your homework and BE PREPARED - I was ready for the hike - down 4-5 hrs. and up 11 hours - (we camped overnight in the Bright Angel Campground - highly recommended) - we had plenty of water, and food, most people forget the food issue, you burn lots of calories. What surprised me was the altitude issue. Climbing up you are at 6-7,000 ft. it is hard to breath... Do not take the hike for granted. We had to carry a marathon runner we found on the trail, down for a while until we found shade for her!!! And drowned her in water from our bottles. Our night camping along side the flowing creek in the quiet of the inner canyon and the beautiful star filled sky will never be forgotten.. Bucket list this!!! The best part was doing it with my two grandsons - Wyatt and Logan 15 and 13. A lifetime of stories to share.
Very few visitors to the Grand Canyon ever step of one of the rims and into the Canyon, but it's arguably the best way to truly appreciate this natural wonder. I've done the South Kaibab-Bright Angel hike, as well as a recent R2R hike from north to south. Be sure to be in good shape and do your research before you go. It can be a challenging hike, especially with the heat, so be prepared and hike early in the day.
this one was tougher with the high heat, broken water line on the toughest part of our S to N hike. Really need to be prepared with large water carrying capacity, food, weather changes so you want to travel light but survival should take precidence. Ribbon Falls was a stop this time and well worth, especially to get proposed to as my daughter did.
Venturing into the Inner Canyon gives you an opportunity to get up close and personal with the different layers of rock, the wildlife of the canyon, and its unique flora. It's a worthwhile adventure, whether you complete the whole Rim-Rim-Rim or just take a 3 mile RT on Bright Angel Trail. You can experience the canyon on foot or take a mule ride if you are staying at Phantom Ranch. Make sure to bring enough of water and sun protection. There are not many shady areas along the trail, and the sun is especially relentless in the afternoon hours when you are likely to be climbing back up towards the rim. There is no water available on the South Kaibab Trail. If you are thinking about Rim-Rim hike, this is the good trail to descent on. It offers beautiful views and 2 restrooms as on the way. North Kaibab Trail is long - 14 miles one way. The scenery is superb. OOh AAh the whole way. There are several water stations along the way. One section of this trail, a 2 mile traverse, has some exposure. The trail here is 4-6 feet wide, and some spots might be challenging for those who do not have head for heights. Bright Angel Trail - 3 water stations are located along the trail 1.5, 3 and 4.5 miles from the rim. The trail offers several good day hiking possibilities. Many people go to the 3 mile water refill station or to Indian Gardens at 4.5 miles for a day hike. It is also a good choice for those ascending the whole way from Colorado River. It is longer that South Kaibab trail but water is available and it makes a lot of difference when hauling yourself up on a hot day.
Without taking Inner Canyon trip your visit is to Grand Canyon is not complete. You will be taken to bottom of the grand canyon where you can enjoy boat riding and can have close look to wildlife. It is all together different experience.
My group of six family members (70 y.o. mom, and me, sisters, and brothers-in-law, all in our 30s and 40s) did the North Kaibab to Bright Angel hike over the course of 3 days. Took our time going down the North Kaibab, which was chilly (high 30s) at the top (5:30 a.m. start in late May), warming gradually through the first half of the trail, then getting increasingly HOT through the Box (100+ in the full sun). Arrived at Bright Angel campground about 3:30 p.m. Spent the rest of that day drinking lemonade from the canteen and sitting in the creek, which was bliss. Relaxed / recovered the next day, with just a loop hike of the Black and Silver bridges for 4 of our group. Started out the 3rd morning by 5:30, and separated into 2 groups once we crossed the Silver bridge. Three of us had afternoon flights out of Flagstaff to catch, and are the fastest / fittest, so we kept a steady pace and reached the trailhead in about 5 hours. The other 3 took their time, lots of water / rest breaks, and reached the top in about 9 hours. AMAZING experience and would do it again! But PLANNING and PREPARATION are absolutely essential. Don't underestimate the demands or overestimate your ability.
This trip was one we will be talking about for years to come! It is definitely not for those afraid of heights or with a fear of animals. We spent the night on the South Rim prior to our trip and highly recommend doing so since the morning start is very early and you have to check in for a "weigh in" and to pick up gear the afternoon before the trip.We had a private cabin down at Phantom Ranch and would definitely like to visit again, but will stay at the bottom on the canyon longer next time.
