This state park is a wonderful place for a picnic, hike, fishing or just sitting in a swing enjoyingthe beauty of nature. It's just a wonderful place to spend the day. They have camping, RV sites and cabins too! Fishing for bass, brim and catfish too!

We took a family camping trip there over 4th of July weekend.Campground is very well kept, bath house is really clean.Lots of great hiking trails, stocked lakes for fishing, and kayak rentals. Was a great place to take my grandson to teach him about nature.

Went here for a wedding and I have to say it is a beautiful place to visit!! There is a bride that you can walk across the lake. Great place to spend the day with your family and go fishing or just take a walk. Planning my next trip there. You do have to pay for a parking pass which is $5 I believe but it's for the entire day, and it's well worth it.

Stayed in a cottage for five days with 3 kids (college and high school aged) and 2 adults. It was both very relaxing and fun. The cottages are fully stocked with linen and towels and well maintained and clean. Board games were in the cabin and food close by as Ingles market is 3 miles away. No DVD player to watch the movies we brought so we used our laptop. Most hiking trails are not difficult so a young child or grandparent could easily hike. The trail around the upper and lower lakes are perfect for an easy hike. My older kids enjoyed all trails, however, favored the Marble Mine Trail. I would recommend this for a family gathering or reunion with 4 families renting the four cottages. The fall colors are beautiful in November. We'd like to return again and hope to do so.

We went for a weekend and stayed in one of the cabins. They were nice and clean with a rustic motif. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was complete with dishes. (bring your own food of course) We hiked several of the trails and the markers were good. The marble mine hike is very pretty, although the "waterfall" was a bit underwhelming. The lake was pretty and there was plenty of fishing and paddle boats.

This is a beautiful and relaxing park. We will return and I would recommend it. I can't wait to return to see the fall leaves. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This includes the rangers at the check in and the campground host. The lakes and hardwood covered mountainside are simply beautiful. The fishing appeared to be excellent, but I did not get a chance to try it. The hiking trails are in excellent shape and vary in difficultly from easy to strenuous. There is a trail for everyone. There is a connection to the Pinhoti Trail if you are interested in long distance or more challenge. The camp sites include water and electric, but no sewer hookups. There is no cable and the satellite reception is only available in a few sites due to the beautiful trees. A few of the sites are close together, but most are separated enough to give you plenty of privacy. The bath houses were clean but not air conditioned. They were very hot during the day. There are two brand new playgrounds for the younger crowd. The equipment still has the original stickers on it. There are not a lot of activities at the park which helps make if great. It is very peaceful and relaxing for a weekend visit. Only one camper was staying past the weekend so it will be deserted during the week. If you stay during the week you might be alone. Drive extra careful if you are in a big rig. The roads to the park are narrow and winding. The roads in the campground are even more narrow and winding.

Came to camp, hike and geocache! Amazing camp spots! Most all spaced apart and very level! Lakes are crystal clear and you can see all the fish! Picnic pavilions with amazing views! Trails for miles and the Marble Mine trail is not to be missed!

This is a fantastic park for weekend getaways. They have two or three lakes, petal boats for rent and jon boats for rent for fishing. They have hiking trails and even one that leads to an old closed down marble mine. May not be worth a very long drive but if youre close by, absolutely worth a visit

We visited James Floyd Park for their first time campers program. The family had a great time. We hiked and canoed a little. We mostly had a blast setting up the camp and cooking over the campfire. We are from the city and found the entire experience lots of fun. The park itself is very clean and a great place to get away from it all.The park caters to fishermen, which we are not, but we had a great first time camping here. We would pick a park with more daily hikes to walk to and easily access. Also, we would not pick summer again as it was pretty hot even at night. I think fall would be cool and beautiful.

I stopped in while driving through the area and boy am I disappointed I didn't have a pole with me! Wow at the fish in these 2 small lakes! The water is clear and you can see them swimming all over! The park itself isn't a huge one, but the cabins look great. They have plenty of picnic shelters, paddle boats to rent etc. This is definitely worth a stop when you're in Chatooga Co.!

A family outing brought us to sloppy floyd park in northwest Georgia. We drove past the turn off as the sign is a little hard to see.Once we arrived , all we could say was WOW! The lake has got to be one of the prettiest lakes in the state parks we have visited. Plenty of picnic tables and swings surround the lake. There is plenty of fishing on both sides of the main road. There is a trail that takes you to an old marble mine with a water fall. It's not a deep mine but worth a look just the same.Campers will enjoy the pretty setting in the campground and the 4 cottages are really nice.

The wife and I decided to visit Sloppy Floyd State Park to go hike as sort of a last minute "thing to do". She had never been to the park before, and I had not been in years. I simply love the scenery at this park. The lake is beautiful (with plenty of areas for fishing even though we did not do so this time), and the "day use area" is nicely kept and well shaded. Once we got on site I caused a pretty big snag in our plans (namely I locked the keys in the car). However, the Park Ranger was able to send a staff member out who helped me get back into my car. I was very grateful for their quick and helpful response. It was embarrassing to do this, but the staff were all very professional and helpful. We hiked on both the Marble Mine Trail and the Upper Lake Loop Trail. Both of these trails were wonderful. Coming from the day use parking lot area the Marble Mine Trail has more areas of incline but they are not steep inclines. The Upper Lake Loop Trail is more level. At the end of the Marble Mine Trail there is a pond with a water fall (although it was not a big water fall during our visit) with a wooden walk way and bench area. There is no swimming or wading in this pond (which is at the mouth of the mine). This area of the trail was by far the coolest (temperature wise) and was a beautiful place to relax and take in the scenery. As with all such activities, you need to be realistic about your abilities before starting out on a hike, make sure to take plenty of water or sports drink with you, and go at a pace that works for you. Even with the snag at the beginning we really enjoyed the day. We plan to return in the future to camp.

First, this state park is only 1 1/2 hours from home so that is a great benefit. The campground is very nice, large sites with a good amount of privacy. We had site #4 and felt pretty separated from our neighbors. Several good walking trails and two nice lakes that appear to have good fishing opportunities. We camped for two nights this weekend. If you are in the area go to Howard Finster's Paradise Garden and enjoy the eclectic mix of folk art this interesting artist created. In Summerville so close to the park.Just 10 miles or less from Summerville, GA with restaurants and Walmart, groceries, etc. We'll look forward to going to this park again soon.
