Would have rated the Lakemont course higher if it hadn't been for conditions of greens. Bald spots and areas needing reseeding. Not all greens cut to same speed on Stimp meter. A true test of shotmaking -narrow fairways and undulating greens. Staff very service oriented.
we ate here, called the Commons, the food was geat,,the service great and the bartender we called darling Darlene, they serve a martini, the best I ever had, can not say enough about this place.
If you haven't played these courses before, you are missing out. Both courses have great views and many challenging holes. You are missing out if you haven't played here yet.
We played Lakemont and were disappointed for the price. The fairways had just been mowed and the clippings were still all over the course making finding your ball difficult. They had just started using the oversized holes and we were not aware of that when we booked our tee time. Several greens needed some TLC and other than the 150 markers - we found it hard to find yardage markers. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The music and laser show was awesome. Purchase the dinner buffet for a real good value and family bonding time.
Its just like any other mini-golf course. Fun and casual. Its in a neat setting with the train going in the background and the tall beautiful pines keeping you in the shade.
Playing the Lakemont course was a great experience. Starting off, the practice area is about a half mile from the clubhouse so take a cart. The front nine is around the lake and offers beautiful views of Stone Mountain. The back is more hilly and wide open. The fairways are tight but greens are good. Lots of geese on front nine and they like to poop a lot, even on the greens but it adds to the uniqueness of the course. My only issue was the fourth hole had a hole that was approximately twelve inches round. When I asked why, the staff said it was to speed up play on a notoriously slow hole. I didn't buy that. The clubhouse was beautiful and the bar had a nice pool table. Overall I rate this course a four out of five. Definitely play again!
It was in great shape. We played early and there was no-one around. found the course challenging, didn't play it well but enjoyed the view and the course. Staff were nice, the cart guys especially. Ask for the senior rate or book online for the best deal
Challenging course with lots of hills. The beer girl never leaves you empty handed. Clubhouse is top notch. We sat on their large deck/patio after our round and enjoyed the scenery. I thought the price was very reasonable. Definitely worth playing if you are in the area.
Early season golf meant course wasn't in perfect shape, we made due. Staff was excellent, food was great, especially chili dogs at turn I enjoyed the hills and undulations of the course
Always a challenging course. Great views. You need to hit you shots and keep it in the fairway or you'll be hitting around the trees. Greens are in good shape for the time of the year. Lakemont was closed for repair so we played the Woodmont and Stonemont course
Challenging course. Beautiful fall scenery. Had late lunch in club house-very good, even cozied up to the fireplace. also stayed in the park--excellent accommodations.
Great variety on menu with take out available. Very pleasant surroundings with staff to match. The prices are very reasonable.
The greens were lush, thick, and well maintained. The Stone Mountain makes for a nice backdrop and the greens seem to cascade through the hills. Got a bit chillier in the PM, but all in all scratch golfers will like the variety of greens
I had actually looked at some Trip Advisor reviews before selecting Stone Mountain Golf Club as a place for me and my out of town family to play at. The reviews were generally good for both the Stonemont Course and the Lakemont Course. The scenic views of Stone Mountain and the lake swayed me towards the Lakemont Course. The price, $39 for 18 holes with a cart, made it worth a shot. Normally, prices are $59 for 18 holes with a cart, but the course website indicated that they had just aerated the greens a few weeks prior and were offing a special rate because of the aeration. I figured that this would not matter since I knew that my group members were not top notch golfers. I was pleasantly surprised on the visit that the greens were basically healed from the aeration and were in great shape! The entire experience was nice from the friendly bag drop service, quick pro-shop check-in, and the friendly starter. The course was in great shape and the scenic views of the lake and Stone Mountain did not disappoint. It did help that it was a gorgeous mid September morning weather wise. The course was challenging for all skill levels in the group and the brush was kept low enough that finding an errant shot was not difficult. The course is pretty hilly - so having a cart is highly recommended. I don't believe the course even allows walking before 2pm on weekends. Everyone is the group had a great time. We'll definitely be back!
