After passing this place several times while visiting our daughter who recently moved to Midway, GA we decided to stop and check it out. What a marvelous surprise as we began to step back in time to colonial life and times. This magic was performed by our guide who brought the early history of Georgia to life with her stories. We were transferred to a time when Midway, GA was a very important place. Well worth visiting when traveling on I-95 in the Savannah, GA area.

We had a guided tour of the Cemetery and the Museum with the head of the Museum, Diane. She was very knowledgeable and was an excellent storyteller. She made the lives of these long dead people come alive. If you are interested in early American history don't miss this Cemetery and Museum. We also got to visit the old church with Kitty, Diane's assistant. Kitty was also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the area and the church. Both ladies made us feel very welcome and took a lot of time with us to answer our questions. I would love to go back!

Middway is 5min off i95. The museum was very interesting . The curator was really knowledgeable. She spent time explaining the history of the town and buildings from formation of the colony to revolutionary and civil wars . Great period artifacts. The church was really neat and well preserved. Good job to the museum staff for keeping the history of midway alive

We stumbled across Midway, a community that predates the United States, while traveling US 17 as an alternative to I-95. Talk about a trip back in time! The first thing that caught our eye was the ancient cemetery, then the old 1930s era Gulf gas station. We got out and walked through the cemetery...it was fascinating to read the life stories, engraved on the above ground tombs of long dead souls. As we were on a timetable, we had to leave but vowed to return for a closer look, which we did. There is a colonial museum there which makes for an interesting tour...the folks there really have a passion for story telling. You can also walk through the old church, built in 1792, which is just magnificent and simple at the same time. Two signers of the Declaration of Independence were area residents, we learned. Also, two Revolutionary War generals are buried in the cemetery.Midway is an interesting town worth touring if you have a passion for Revolutionary War lifestyles in the south. Just don't try to open a lemonade stand! (google for the reason why).

The colonial house, church and cemetery are like a tiny Williamsburg. The guides are do a great job telling the colonial history of the area and the house is filled with memorabilia that conger feelings of what it was like to live in colonial Georgia as a prominent landowner.

Every square inch is packed with some of the USA's and Georgia's most historic stories. Under museum administration that loves to share the treasures

The drivers were wonderful in explaning the town and answering any questions.The pick up and drop offs were very punctual.

The Midway Historic District, with the old Congregational Church, Museum and cemetary is well worth a visit, although small it offers great quality to all. The relationship of the people once to the area to New England is amazing and very little known and should be better known. The move of the people from Dorchester,Ma. first to what is now called Old Dorchester,SC. and then to Liberty County would make a great historical novel. Hopefully, one day it shall be written.
