We did the tour of Santiago walk which goes through this park. The park is pleasant but suffered from a lack of maintenance and everywhere seems tired. There was some graffiti around too.
... would be perfect if not for the scaffoldings covering the towers of the cathedral (July 2014). Anyway it was worth visiting and taking a stroll in the park.
This well kept park area provides a quiet place to sit and take in the view of the city of Santiago without crowds and surrounded by lovely trees and flowers.
A larger than expected park which was really lovely to walk around. Bring your camera because there are some excellent views of the Cathedral.
It's worth exploring all the way to the edges of the park to discover the bits adjacent to the housing - away from the town centre. We found the children's play park a great place to unwind for our 9 year old daughter. We had fun feeding the white and the black swans and the various wild ducks with bread left over from the meals. It was nice to go there in the evening after the heat of the day and wander around. The trees are fantastic and the gothic-style architecture very complementary to the vegetation.
My daughter jogged around the park while we strolled and people watched. We enjoy coffee in the very modern glass cafe with tree growing out of it. Don't miss this park. It has beautiful views of the town and a very old eucalyptus tree.
Beautiful park, and spectacular views. You do not have to walk a lot around the park. You will enjoy it!
Very useful when travelling with 5 yo + kids. More, there are also exercise instruments so less boring to watch kids playing.
An unexpected concert under the sweet-smelling linden trees was a bonus on a Sunday lunchtime. Such a pretty little park with a stunning view as you walk farther round. A place to people watch.
Most of the old city is all stone and concrete. On gray days this is only amplified. This park has a summit that can view most of the old city. Good distant shots of the city can be made here. The paths are clean and benches for resting. There are sometimes some drunk elements here that are a bit distracting. At the park's entrance from the old city there are many restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating.
This a huge park and it acts as cornerstone to the city….keeps it in balance. It's a wonderful reprieve full of trees, walkways and some good views of the city and surrounding countryside. When we were there they were setting up what appeared to be a carnival of sorts. It is a lovely park, with lots of people/locals, and a good view of the Cathedral and downtown. We came here a couple times, and it's worth checking out or just relaxing…as are most parks.
The park itself is beautiful, but the best kept secret is that, from a spot close to where the Valle-Inclan statue is, is the best place to take a picture of the Cathedral of Santiago.
This lovely park, with fantastic views of the city, and an open- air gym, is a lovely place to escape the many tourists and unsatisfactory restaurants of Santiago. My 9 year old son enjoyed the open air gym and there is play equipment for under 8's.
This park was very closed to our Hotel (Hotel San Lorenzo) and has beautiful views of the cathedral and Santiago de Compostela. It is a safe place to walk and a place to go if you have some spare time in Santiago.
Worth heading here just to get 'that picture' - looking back to old town and the Cathedral framed by trees in the foreground.
