We recently met friends for lunch in Shrewsbury. Having a couple of hours to spare and the weather cooperating, we followed the river around town - very picturesque with lots of chances for people watching, rowers, dogs, etc. Also very nice restaurants and pubs to drop in should you not wish to ramble.A picturesque and charming walk in a lovely old town.
Lovely place to visit and wander round at all times of the year. The 'Dingle' always looks so special.
Shrewsbury is lovely itself, the surroundings are idilic but the Quarry adds an open secret to the place. Well kept and full of character
lovely are in the centre of Shrewsbury to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax by the river. Could spend all day there if it had been the summer.
Fantastic park for walking my spaniel Billy. The dingle sunken garden is lovely too. Shame the cafe is so rarely open
Beautiful area of Shrewsbury by the river. Open spaces, the Dingle and a lovely place for a stroll before going into town for a coffee or lunch. Lovely to sit out in the summer and also their are lots of events going on such as the Flower show in August.
If all towns had a centre piece like this, I am sure there would be more for kids to do and less crime!?!? Lovely
As others have said, the Quarry is a lovely large area of grassland, bounded by the river, on the south side of the town, very near the historic St Chad's church. Very popular in the good weather and always a joy to walk through. Within the Quarry there's also the Dingle, a small beautifully preserved area of peace and tranquillity with lots of formal planting and running water; a real joy just to sit and think. As the title says, it's a real gem, you'll love it.
This place is really beautiful and has been totally restored by volunteers. Their are interesting walks, tracks to a herb garden, bonsai garden and some really lovely flora and fauna. There is also a butterfly garden and lots more, too much to mention here. They also have abseiling down the quarry walls for the more adventurous.
Big park in Centre of Town! Acres of land to walk at your Leisure1 Home of world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show(Well worth a visit in its own right) The Dingle which is in Park is Beautiful and full of Colourful flowers all year round! within easy reach of Town and other amenities!
Nestling in the oxbow curve of the Severn as it flows round Shrewsbury, the Quarry with design influences from Percy Thrower is always a delight. A great walkk just away from the busy town, the river and the Dingle with ducks and the summer flowers are also part of its attractions. As others have said, a visit to Shrewsbury must include the Quarry.
This park is one of the most attractive and one of the best maintained in the three counties! A pleasure to walk around, particularly alongside the river in the summer.
It really does not matter what time of year you visit the quarry and especially the dingle, the planting of trees and shrubs is amazing and depending on the season the flower displays will dazzle you. A lovely tranquil place to vist and walk around.
The Quarry park , is nestled on the banks of the River Severn as it meanders through the Town , a wonderful place to walk, sit on a bright spring-summers day, or for me at any time , it is great place to relax , either on your own , with your partner or family , the country in the Town , a must if your visiting Shrewsbury
A beautiful park near the centre of town. there is a childrens play area, riverside walks and the jewel in the crown is the Dingle. This is a beautifully kept floral garden where you can relax and admire the flowers, fountains and ducks.
