We were not lucky to find this nice Church open; it must be fascinating from the inside; the Church well preserved old building and green surroundings makes the place so peaceful.
Did a short trip from our hotel, got the bus, lots of shops, some touristy, but there are also some nice little shoe and clothes shops. Also lots of jewellery shops everywhere. Plenty of bars and restaruants although didn't get the chance to try them out.
Incredibly beautiful paintings - orthodox icons. The church also is very interesting concerning it's architectural style.
It was not easing finding the place and we had to roam a bit to finally reach the place. This works both in favour and against the church. While it is not easy to find, being tucked away gives the place a nice little charm. The place seemed to be quite peaceful too. You need to be early at the place since it closes early in the day and we were lucky enough to be there an hour before that. The whole yard and the surrounding areas of the church is beautiful as well.
Thanks to the reviews on this site, we made an effort to find this little treasure. We searched everywhere to find the opening hours and found nothing. Unfortunately when we arrived at 4pm, the church was closed. It lies in a fascinating quarter of the city and looks charming through the locked gate. But be sure to note that IT CLOSES AT 3pm!!!!
This small, beautiful church, is worth the effort to find. It is rather tucked away, and is like a small haven of peace.
There is something in its yard, something in that church that moves me every time I am visiting it. Do try to visit it during Easter time. The experience will be unforgettable.
the monastery is surounded by old vyzantine walls built at least 1000 years ago.You have to know exactly where it is in order to find it. Once you find it and you garden the relaxation that the garden offers you is unbelievable
this church even though is not so popular, has amazing mosaic,is free entrace as all churches in this town and worths a visit.if you find someone ask details of its history.
So old, so down to earth and close to heaven as well...So byzantine with ancient greek remnants around...So Greek...
Everything is unique: the church, the view from outside, the lady who is responsible and of course the wall painting
Nice church, not so easy to find. Unfortunately no pictures allowed inside the church. It worths the visit
If you manage to find this little chapel of the byzantine period, hidden in the narrow streets of the old town, though near the city centre, you'll be in the oasis of a green and quiet garden. Take your time to admire the preserved Paleologean period frescoes, some of the few left in such a good condition in Greece. Open in the mornings only as a monument (not for services).
hardly a church and more of a chapel, this romantic building sits in a charming garden; well worth the effort of the walk (and search)
Old church hidden in the narrow streets of Ano Poli. It's well worth the visit even though it's not one of the most famous monuments of the city. Can easily be combined with a long walk in the streets of Ano Poli and around the city walls.
