Secluded, idyllic and peaceful. If it is high season and then it's not as peaceful...but still beautiful and unique. It is not easy to get to. It is one heck of a hike down and killer back. You can take a boat to Livadaki from Angali beach and also I believe the port. If you are adventurous...hike in and take the boat back BUT BUT BUT make sure the boats are running - if the winds are high they might not be and then you will be schlepping up the hill. There is ZERO here...so bring water and everything you might need. Lots of water!!
This idyllic pebbled beach destination is not an easy walk, but persevere, the hard going and the feeling of "never getting there" will be rewarded. At the end of the trek is a beautiful pebbled beach in a small bay with crystal clear blue water - small but absolutely stunning. This walk down the mountain is definitely not for the faint hearted or the unfit but the scenery on the way is wonderful and worth every step. Nude swimming appears to be acceptable but not mandatory. Take plenty of water and food as there are no facilities when you get to the bottom and please take your rubbish with you! The uphill trip seems easier! A must do while on Folegandros.
Livadaki is a very nice beach, with a mixture of sand and small rocks. If you are lucky and find it with no waves, it is idyllic for a daily stay at sea. On the other hand, access is offered either by boa (which remarkably expensive) or by a remote path that we did not explore. When the season is high, hordes of tourists arrive so it is probably better to go early in the morning and depart after 2:00. We suspect that in the more relaxed months of September or June this place would be a paradise. Final comment, do not forget your standard equipment: umbrella, water food etc. since there are no facilities nearby.
The best beach of the Island, for me! You can appreciate it more after taking the path from Ag. Panteleimonas, Ano Meria, on a day when the wind favours the specific gulf! Ask the locals!
Take the scenic boat ride to this last beach.Best swimming & snorkelling. Trees for shade. Take a picnic.
This beach was quite easy to get to from our hotel in Agali but I hope it remains somewhat undiscovered! There were hardly any people and plenty of room to swim and explore the rocks.
The beach was picturesque. The water was clear and calm (like a swiming pool). Cons: small beach, crowded, with stones. There were trees but not so close to the beach. The beach was with stones instead of sand (not so convenient).
Nice protected beach facing South approchable only by small boats leaving mainly from Agkali beach (9euros/person go+return ticket). There are quite a few trees where you can find shaddow, otherwise get your sun umbrella with you. A short 20' walkway can lead you to the famous Lighthouse of the island.
Livadaki beach is one of the 2 best beaches in Folegandros. Easily accessible, around 20 min boat trip (it costs 9 €/person round-trip), beautiful surrounding and not too crowded. You can also easily climb up the rocks nearby and take really wonderful pictures. Worth a visit.
Stopped for some lunch which was great value in fantastic settings. Highly recommended especially if you are thirsty.
Livadaki is a small beach with large pebbles and very clear water. It is protected from the north winds. Along with Katergo beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Folegandros. Boat trips are available from Agali beach (9 euros per person). With the same ticket you can also visit the Agios Nikolaos beach on your way back to Agali. An alternative way to reach Livadaki is to take a path from Ano Meria. In this case, however, a map of the island and proper footwaer are necessary. The beach is not organized at all. You have to bring water and food with you. There are some trees to provide shade but these are not close to the water.
We visited Livadaki beach yesterday! It is a nice and easily accessible location. Also there is a small canteen few meters before.
Propably the most beautiful beach in Folegandros. You can go by boot from agali beach or take a ~50min footpath from Ano Meria (get a map).
Livadaki is more of a cove than a beach and is located in the southwest coast of Folegandros. It can be compared to a natural swimming pool. The wild rocky scenery is combined with crystal clear emerald waters, that are really protected from the weather. Livadaki is perfect for swimming even when strong north winds are blowing. There are two ways to reach Livadaki during summer. By boat from Agkali or by trekking from Ano Meria. Boat trips are scheduled quite often during July and August and cost about 10 euros with return. There are also two paths from Ano Meria to Livadaki. The first one is rocky but quite easy (about 40 minutes) and offers a quite exquisite view of the west and southwest coast of the island. The other is longer (about 1 hour and a half) and provides that you are an experienced hiker, but it offers the opportunity to visit the lighthouse. Whatever path you choose, sportswear is neccessary. Moreover, the earlier you go, the easier you find a nice shadowy spot under the rocks.
Words are simply not enough to describe the colour of the water and the amazing setting! An amazing walk from the road (45 min) or take the boat from the fisherman village.
