Amazing place on Thassos. Beach is beautifful, color of water its amazing. Sand is whitee and pictures look so good. i had feel im in paradise.. much beter visit beach in morning, water is so clean..I love this place
The beach is all white and made from marble. The combination of colors is very interesting: blue crystal water, green pine trees and white beach. If you want to take some good pictures, this is the place.Disadvantage: the beach is very crowded and the road is very challenging for a normal car (a 4x4 traction is recommended) You must bring water&food. Also, there is no toilet!
The white marble meets the blue waters of Greece and offers a unique beach - Saliara ! Although now it is wild and left unhandled by the local authorities, its beauty but be seen at least once as you travel to Thassos. Beware of the road however as you need to pass throw 5 km of rather off road experience. Do not expect luxury services here- just you, the water and the marble!
Is a beautiful place to visit. The road till Marble Beach is not so good but is worth it.It's a shame to get to Thassos and not see Marble Beach.
Likes: the water looks amaizing and has a high deep at the shore.Dislikes: the crowd, the lack of facilities, the closet smell near the rocks of the beach.
we were there 2 years ago and loved the beach and the bar. this time around, we made an effort to drive on a tricky gravel road to get there only to discover that the place is completely ruined. The (only) bar is gone and the beach is completely destroyed. there is nothing there. Don't waste your time on going there!
It is a must see because from the next year they will start to mine for the marble wich is up in the mountain, above the beach. That means the beach will be destroyed. You can not find any more umbrellas and bar because of the storm that destroyed everything a few weeks ago. The road is very bad, but worth the money to rent a car to go there better than go with yours. Is no sand on the beach, only small white shiny pieces of marble that looks like pearls.
Just went today to the Marble Beach and have to say it's not what I expected to be... It's aproximately half hour drive from Limena's port. But the road to the beach is really awful. It's an unpaved, dirt road full of marble rocks and big potholes that make driving a nightmare. We even met a guy stuck on the road whose car got broke due to the small rocks of marble (oil pan gasket). When we got there, needless to say that there was no parking space..everyone was struggling to find a spot. The beach is indeed very beautiful full of white small marble rocks, but no umbrellas, no places in the shade and if you plan to stay all day long, you must bring your own food and lots of drinks. Overall it was an interesting beach...
for a half hour drive (approximately) on a difficult almost rocky road...unless you have a 4wheels drive! if you want to visit this really unique place don't forget to bring water or drinks and maybe something to eat if you plan to stay for sometime. Be aware, there is no shadow, bring your own umbrella or tent!
After reading so many superlatives about Saliara beach, I made my friends drive the 4 km bumpy ride only to find out the place is way overrated. The beach seemed like a deserted construction site, and the water was not exactly clear, probably due to the rain that had fallen the previous day.
Saliara (Marble Beach) is located next to the marble carrier and has white marble sand of course :) 2 years ago is had a beach bar and sunbeds, it was great. But this summer it was empty, something must have happened because the area is a bit messy, with big rocks and normal sand, maybe some natural disaster or from the marble carrier.
So, the road there is very bumpy, so if you don't have a rental and you care for your car, the road is going to be long. I was a little dissapointed by the fact that it was nothing there since it was the begining of may and we didn't prepare to be in the middle of nowhere. But the beach is special, the view and the water amazing!
Road is bumpy. But any car can go there. Some people will say that you need a 4X4 car but no, you can go with any car. Beach is amazing, sand is from tiny marbles. Sand is never hot very strange. Sea is nice but so many waves most of the time...There is no beach bar anymore, so prepare your ice box with you...Behind the beach is dirty around, I hope they will clean around better...
The road is terrible. My car got totally dusted and the tires were really roughed up due to the road. Also it is a little bit hard to find it if you don't know how to get there but it is easy if you know that you have to just follow the road going in front of Makryammos beach. Anyway there is no facility at the beach meaning take your umbrellas sun beds drinks and food because it is only a beach with pebble stones. If you have, take also some beach shoes because the stones hurt your feet. But due to all these negative aspects the sea is crystal clear and the view is wonderful. You feel as if you are in Maldives rather than Greece. I definitely recommend you to go there but again be prepared for the bad trip.
01:07:14 the situation is next: 1.The road was a disaster for all the normal types of car; 2. It is an organized beach, which is good and bad at the same time depends on what you expect 3. Small parking place with many truck with marble blocks that pass near your car ..,. 4. Many dust and sharp rocks on the road (from the asphalt to the beach have 20-25 min. Ride) 5. BUT the beach is still beautiful with beautiful marble pebbles and white sand, crystal clear water, ideal for swimming for making beautiful pictures. My opinion, worth a try once .. :)
