This is an absolutely stunning open air theatre. It can be seen from the main road but you have to actually go and stand in the theatre (and walk up and down) to truly appreciate what was accomplished when this structure was erected.
This is another example of the expertise with which the Romans built their cities. While we did not climb upto the top, as we have seen many other theatres, this is certainly one of the largest and well preserved ones. The acoustics are amazing and one can see why modern theatres also use this design for their construction. This is also a great photo opportunity, both from the top, and to use as a backdrop at ground level.
Its a very impressive structure inside Ephesus ruins. I would assume it is very nice if you can go up to the top of the theatre looking down.
That was amazing! No microphone but voice could come out loud.Climbed up to the top is a must ! Great view with breeze, take a sit for a while and there must be someone wanna sing a song.Enjoy ~
I love what I saw... The view and experiencing walking thru the history is such an awe feeling. I'de go back again if I get a chance just to feel it again.
The view is best when you climb to the very top of the Theatre. From my impression, it seemed that everyone taking photographs here felt the magic of the theatre, their poses and comments. It was just wow.
Another stunning location in Ephesus. Make the climb to the top for the unbeatable views, and then sit and enjoy!
This probably sticks out in my mind as the most intact and amazing part of Ephesus. The sounds still travels up the seating area, it's huge a quite a sight to see.
This is an amazing place within the Ephesus about half way in . The theatre is huge and well preserved considering the age. To just seat in the theatre and think about the history of all the people that used it is surreal .
This is one of the most photo opp of Ephesus and one that you can really feel you are a part of. Stand in the middle at the bottom stage and yes your voice does carry throughout the theatre. Most of the upper section is now blocked, not sure why but go up as high as you can for views over the extensive mostly uncovered ruins of the valley towards the sea. Seats would have been uncomfortable as all stone. Watch your step up and down as very uneven. Impressive
How awesome was it to see this coleseium and think of all the meetings and events which have been held here through the centuries! To think that they have even held some modern day events here is remarkable. It was a great adventure and one I am glad we took!
Walking through the ruins of once was a great Roman city of Ephesus, was so awe inspiring. I was certainly overwhelmed by how vast the ruins were. I ran out of adjectives to describe my feelings. Sitting in the magnificent stadium where the apostle Paul used to preach, I was overcome with indescribable sensations - I drowned in the pool of my own emotions. What a blessing to have seen this place. Will come back again in May of 2015.
After you have walked the ancient city of Ephesus and head towards the end, you will hit the Ephesus Theatre. Its so large in size just trying to picture over 25,000 people sitting in the seats is amazing. Make sure to walk in to the theatre and walk along the seats and take pictures (the stairs are pretty steep walking into the theatre). Since there wasn't a large crowd in the city, it was perfect to see how preserved the theatre was. Make sure when you are leaving, you take a photo from a distance -- you will walk away with an amazing photo.
