The park is about 130 years old and is named by the Mariyinsky Palace. It is located in Pechersk neighborhood in front of the Supreme Council of Ukraine. Stadium Dynamo is situated near the park. Also the Lovers bridge that connects Mariyinsky and Kreschatyi parks is situated there. The lovers attach small locks to the bridge believing their love will last forever. Another spectacular place in the park is its viewing point over the left bank of the city.
This is a nice place to spend a short time relaxing, enjoying the gardens and watching all the people visiting the park.
The wind was blowing and all the colorful leaves were flying through the air creating a cold invigorating morning. I love the fountain and hope to return in summer when it is working.
This is a really big park with beautiful views. Lot's of benches and friendly people! I would visit again. The castle is very big.
Now that the protests in Kyiv are completely over, Mariinski park is again a nice place for a walk or lazy pastime in the shadow of old trees. It has been cleared off and restored as much as possible (the everlasting reconstruction of Mariinski palace was not impacted - still there with no sign of progress). Fountains are working again. Ugly stands with junk food, beer and kvas are back. Segways and pony rides are again available. Lots bikers and roller-skaters on a Sunday day.
As of Jan 2014, substantial part of Mariinskiy park continues to be the place of the mass gatherings of pro-authorities' marchers. The lower part of the park (atop of Dynamo stadium) is adjacent to where the latest unrests take place. The park has sadly lost much of its charm and should better be avoided at the moment, till the situation settles down.
It will be very amazing when the renovation will be finished. The park as itself is really very cozy. But the Mariinsky palace is closed, it is under construction and will be opened only in 2015...It was very sad, that we could not see it.
This has been and I hope, will be in the future, a very beautiful attraction. Presidential palace is there but currently the paint is chipping, the gardens are all over grown and unattended and there is a big green fence around it so you can only see in through the palace gates. No telling how long it will be before it's repaired. (repairs and building take forever here). When it's done, It will be a very lovely place to go and if it had been as nice when I last saw it as it has been in the past, I would have given it a 5. Visiting Kiev is like visiting wonderland.
The park is very large and very beautiful. A nice place for a stroll and relaxation. The most interesting thing is a dilapidated palace built on the orders of Peter the Great's daughter Elizabeth. It is behind locked gates with a guard. Our guide said that the city is always promising to restore it, but it never happens.
Absolutely normal and ordinary park in Kiev. But walk around is good to spend your time which you have for wait the train
Nice for a stroll on a spring or fall day. The park gives peace and atmosphere to the city. Worth a walk round and a sitdown for lunch or a drink in the park!
One of the most beautifull place in the heart of Kiev! There are lots of benchs where to sit and several fountains. At the end of the park - Mariiynskiy Palace.
This is a wonderful park in the middle of the city with lots to see along the way. If you have some time walk through the park, see the open air theatre, the Lovers Bridge, the puppet theatre and other sites along the way. This is an easy stroll with places to stop along the way and get some views of the river and the other side of the city. I rented a segway (off my bucket list!) for approximately 5.00 us dollars for 5 minutes. It wasn't a long time but enough to ride around the park and have some fun.
This is a huge park in the middle of Kiev, that has the Lavra within it, among other attractions and ends near Rodina Mat. It is a very nice park with little coffee shops for people to relax and offers some nice views over the Dnipro.
Mariinsky Park located in the center of Kiev, not far from Maidan Nezalezhnosty and Arsenalna station. Here, you can enjoy the view of old linden trees, maples and chestnuts. Also, many interesting monuments and architectural buildings situated here, like Money Frog, Lover's bridge, Museum of Water and puppet theater.
