Beautiful and peaceful lake of crystal clear waters. Clean surroundings and wonderful landscapes. Attractive locations surround lake with different places to stay and with good restaurants to enjoy.

The country around Puerto Varas is quite stunning. We enjoyed our hiking here and had excellent weather. We would go there again if in Chile.

This lake really makes Puerto Varas a terrific village to visit. I really enjoyed the my stay and I highly recommend it to everyone.

The attraction listing is for the lake, but there is much to do on, and around, this wonderful lake. One can fly into Puerto Montt and take a short ride to Puerto Varas which is on the southeast corner of the lake. (See photo of area map under "photos")There is a national park a bit north, and it is near several other lakes all backing into the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.Puerto Varas has a lot of history but during the time I was there in February it was traffic jammed and overrun with tourists. There is also a casino in town which lowered the charm by several notches.As a base for fantastic outdoor activities, and for sheer beauty, this is a great lake to enjoy.If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

Wow! It is a real treat to go around this Lake and stop in all the beautiful German heritage places. Do not miss Puerto Varas, Ensenada, Refugio Teski, Pto Octay, Frutillar and LLanquihue. This is a real treat for your eyes and senses!

Loved this quaint little town by the lake. Great place to walk, run, canoe, kayak, etc... but I was there in January and it was over run by tourist. Buses and buses of people roll in and take over this little town from morning to sunset, which can be very taxing for the shops and restaurants. Don't let that stop you from coming here because it is an idilic location and lots to do or "not" do. You can just relax and sample the many restaurants. Or be as active as you want and enjoy the many outdoor actives in the area. The volcano (Osomo) was covered in clouds most the time but if you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the snow capped mountain (I've heard) it is breath taking.

The region is called Los Lagos (The Lakes) is it not? This is what you come to the Lake District to see: beautiful blue water rippling under the sun (hopefully, but the clouds are beautiful too!) Go kayaking, canoeing or jet skiing on it. Walk leisurely alongside it and take in the beautiful Osorno Volcano alongside it while following the Heritage Circuit arrows that guide you to significant sights around the lake and the town. But you probably don't want to go swimming in it. If it was too cold for most people in the middle of summer, I doubt it's going to be much warmer any other time of year.

Huge lake with an unbelievable view of the volcano. Puerto Varas in a quaint little town on the banks of the lake. The lake looked clean from what we could see. The water was cold to the touch; however, the locals were enjoying the sunny day and swimming at a nearby beach. I could see staying here for a longer visit. We were only there for a couple of hours as part of shore excursion from our cruise.

This relatively undeveloped very large lake is has beautiful vistas surrounded by mountains and with this cute town on its shores. Go

Nice and clean lake beside the Volcano Osorno.Unfortunately in Puerto Varas there are very limited possibilities to hire a boat for a round trip

This is a very large lake and several towns surround it. Take a ride and enjoy the scenery. Pull off the road and stop at some of the towns: Puerto Varas, Frutillar, etc. Enjoy the shops, cafes , and scenery around the lake. Pick up some fresh produce and fish.
