Definitely go see this place. Yeah, they charge a bit much, but the place is beautiful. The architecture is Gaudi meets Greek isles, and the art reminds me of Picasso. It all makes for great photos.

If you go to Punta del Este Casapueblo is a must, it seams to be in Santorini, house of Calos Paez Viraró, great artist, you can visit Casapueblo made in the rocks, the museum also, sunset astouned......

We had been to Casapueblo before and it has an amazing view and impressive architecture. This time we went around the museum with more attention and it was very interesting. The documentary that plays in the media room is worth sitting down for 20 minutes.

This hotel is a unique, sightseeing interest built by a famous artist. It has a museum attached to view the history. Our room was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the Atlantic. It is best to have a car to take advantage of all of the shopping, eating, sea lion tours, etc. Area food fresh from the sea. Great experience.

The view is very beautiful and it is worth the visit! The best place in Punta to watch the sunset... but be prepared to find it a little crowded. You can either buy the museum ticket, where there is a belvedere, or you can go to their restaurant at the base and consume something. The food and the service are not really good but the view is great and the pictures possibilities are nicer than going only to the museum.

We knew nothing about Carlos Paez Vilaro and are completrely ignorant about art but this was a great attraction... the house, the art and the view are all beautiful. It was about 350 pesos for us both to go in and we got there by the local bus from the Punta bus station. Ask the driver to drop you of at Casapueblo, you'll get off at a mirador and then it's a couple of km walk out to the point. Not too far if you like walking.

Peace and tranquility at Casapueblo.I had always loved visiting the museum at Casapueblo in Punta Ballena, and once had the pleasure of meeting the artist Carlos Paez Villaro -- such a humble and talented man. A few years ago he was kind enough to sign one of his prints for me. I always wondered what it was like for him living at Casapueblo, his creation. This year we stayed at Casapueblo for two nights and it was such a beautiful experience to wake in the morning and open the doors to our balcony and look out at the sea and the beautiful whitewashed concrete and stucco structure designed by Carlos Paez Villaro. And the sunset, that beautiful sunset. I’ve seen it before from the cliff beside Casapuebo – but how beautiful to see it from our balcony. Just a small glimpse into what it must have been like for the artist living there. If you are able to visit the museum, make sure to see the video about the life of Villaro and his art – see it before you tour the museum – it will mean so much more to you. And if you want to see the sunset from inside, make sure you arrive before 8:00pm when they close the doors to the museum. If you are inside already, you will be able to see the sunset and hear the Ceremony of the Sun narrated by Carlos Paez Villaro. Each time I visit this museum, I see something that I hadn’t noticed before. This time my husband brought a work of art to my attention that I hadn’t noticed in my previous visits. It was a rifle with it’s barrel tied in a knot – a tribute to non-violence by the artist – I had goosebumps.Another emotional moment I experienced was when we went to see the Teatro Verano in Montevideo. There was such a beautiful tribute to Carlos Paez Villaro with a recreation of Casapueblo and his daughter was a participant. During the performance. she painted his signature “sun” while she was onstage.

We went with a group on a warm summer day and managed to enjoy the house despite the many people there. The home, built over a 40-year period is beautifully appointed and looks out over the azure waters of Punta. The views are extraordinary and the home amazing. Would be nice to add some parking and perhaps a little cafe or something, but we liked it a lot.

There is nothing like an artist's home to give you a better appreciation of their art, style, philosophy and way of life. The birds' nest like dwelling with nest or room after room shows the artist's insatiable urge to produce or create. Informal and accessible, the artist's works are open for show with only a couple behind glass. it is a highlight of Punta del Este not only for the art but for its cultural significance to the area.

If one has to single out the best Uruguayan attraction, Casapueblo will be the invitable winner of any ballot.Beautiful construction, full of historical content, with fantastic artistic works. The sunset ceremony with the poem by the deceased owner, heared over the sound system, became a tradition, and should not be missed. The adjourning restaurant gives you a chance of rounding up a marvelous afternoon

great on the outside to look at a nd photograph, but only a small amount of rooms open to the public on the inside, not too much to see....

This really looked a very interesting place to visit but it was too expensive in price for me and my family to feel it was worthwhile seeing. We did get to go inside down a very steep and narrow stairwell where we waited in a line for ages. It appeared many others thought the same. We did however get some great photos from the road and the view over the sea was spectacular. Perhaps for people interested in art and architecture it might have been worth the price but to me is just looked like a "Fred Flintstone" home.

The house is amazing, different from anything I have seen so far. You can visit the museum, grab something to eat (quite expensive) or have a coffee while enjoying the view of the ocean. The museum part is very small, a few rooms with Carlos Vilaró art ( paintings, sculptures, etc). I liked the video about the artist art, it's in Spanish, narrated by Carlos Vilaró himself, with subtitles in English.

Sunset at Casapueblo is breathtaking. One should go with time to visit the atellier and walk arround trough the amazing construction buit by Páez Vilaro, famous artist. Nowadays it is a hotel but some areas can be visited. There is a fee to access the atellier.
